That's a good start but not sure it's enough. I'm not going to lecture you like everybody else, I'm just going to give you a pure driver's perspective. If you put the risk of other drivers that might pull out aside, I think that 260 is too much on NZ roads. While I personally think that driving at 200km/h on French highways or 250km/h on German highways is relatively safe as long as there's nobody else on the road (but it's still illegal in France), the quality of highways in NZ is nowhere near to the quality of highways in France or Germany. At 260km/h on NZ roads, you need real skills and there's always the risk of losing control because of a road defect (and you won't be able to do anything about that no matter your skills). My point is : 260km/h on NZ roads is way too much, if you want to find your limits and learn how to drive fast, you should go to a racetrack. And you'll learn a lot more that way. Anybody can do 260km/h in a straight line, not that much people know how to go fast in corners.7 points

Well, yesterday. Victim of a hit and run. Gotta go in tomorrow to make formal statement, insurance quote etc etc. Not happy. All you people at flatnats will get to see the mess in person, cas it's asthetics only, and I won't let one stroppy islander spoil my weekend.5 points

Several years ago I acted as the sweeper car that went though at the end of each stage in the Targa Rally. Plenty of experienced drivers went off the road at speeds far less than 200km/h. They were okay due to lower speeds or the fact they had a roll cage and helmet etc. Most were caught out by totally unexpected hazards on the road such as oil spill, wild animal etc. And they had far more driving experience than you - by a country mile. Do yourself a favour and reign in your perecived powers of invincibility before it is too late. You have the rest of your life to live. I may think you're a knob, but doesn't mean I wish you ill will...3 points

Edited Remember young grasshopper, the internet is for ever!!!! You never know who will be reading these posts, could be the police looking for info on drivers or seeing who's posting dumb s**t they do. Or could be an insurance company checking after a claim. Anything you post that shows you doing something illegal can bite you in the ass.3 points

Wastegate is fine, was a dead coil! So its back to much chuu chuu! Now to order some new ones, so it doesn't happen again.3 points

Just because you are the only one in the car does not mean you only endanger yourself. What about the soccer mum with 4 kids who pulls out when you're ages down the road but doesnt expect you to be doing 2.6 times the limit?2 points

That makes it okay then. As speedysub says, it still has an effect on others (give a thought as to how your parents may feel) not to mention the tax payer $ to either clean up the mess or the medical care you would require for the rest of your life as you sit drooling all day in a vegative state.2 points

Willing to bet there isn't a race track or privare road long enough for a 2016 STi to hit 260+. And as for me no. Not even half that speed. Have no need to be that stupid or irresponsible. As someone who works in a hospital OR I have seen the results of what goes wrong - at least those that survive....2 points

Are you sure that's not rev cut or speed cut or some other cut? Because running out of fuelling won't result in a cut, you'll just hit 100% IDC. What you're getting is almost certainly a cut, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say boost cut. This is all so retarded, because if the car was running out of fuelling the tuner should have been able to tell you this 100% concretely, no anecdotal "sometimes a thing happens". By all means, put some ID1050X's in it and a decent fuel pump, but don't be disappointed when it makes 1kw more. Although I have this funny feeling that if the tuner is clever they will just dial-a-number and give you whatever makes you pay them more.2 points
-
The tuner is a goomba if he thinks that a (presumably rolling road?) dyno figure, with an arbitrary made-up correction factor for flywheel power, is more accurate than a hub dyno. If you're going to quote a made-up number, may as well just make up a ridiculous one. Shoot for the moon, put a 500kw club sticker on it.2 points

Yeah there's nothing structural, bumper iron is fine, no ripples in the Tyre well, everything is straight, it's literally just the plastic and the outer skin of the boot lid. It still sucks though. I hope the cops throw the book at the driver. His 3 kids in the car were in tears, begging him to shut up as he was shouting at me for "going to slow" in a 30kmh temporary speed zone. I was turning into the driveway of my scout hall, he full beamed me then punted me up the arse. All my scouts heard and saw it too, so the rest of the evening was spent reassuring them.1 point

could be two unrelated things. pop it up on stands and idle it in gear - poke around with a mechanics stethoscope (broom handle or similar) to work out where the noise is coming from. Maybe its gearbox or centre diff bearings. Wandering could be rear-end. Rear trailing arm front bushes shot, for example.1 point

Both BRM (2.5L NA) and BRG (2.0L DIT) are facelifts models. BR9 is a prefacelift/facelift 2.5L - can be NA (CVT) or turbo (5AT). 5th gen have significantly larger rear part of the cabin, especially leg and head room. Boot is actually a touch shorter than 4th gen (test fitted a 4th gen boot mat in a 5th gen and it was too long). Exigas are pretty low on specs, not even HID headlights, basic interior etc.1 point

BR9 wagon has huge room in the back seats! Massive upgrade from the old legacy I had1 point

Nah won’t be speed cut cause she cruises at 260 no sweat, it cuts at any RPM so don’t think it’ll be rev cut, and can’t be boost cut cause I watch my boost gauge and it stays at 1.25 bar from 3k through to 6,500 with no creep, no spikes etc. COBB’s boost solenoid does a great job. I don't know how you can conclude you are choked by fuel based solely on that. You tuner should be able to tell you your injector duty cycle, which will tell you with 100% clarity, no wet finger in the air bullshit, if you are running out of fuelling. If your tuner cannot tell you this, they are a potato and should not be tuning cars that use injectors. I know bugger all about the intricacies of the latest motors, but presumably they are running similar injectors to the older ones, approx 565cc/min. This will fuel you to around 240 real, actual, proper, not made up, wheel kw. Depending on the bullshit factor the tuner is using on his dyno, this is going to be roughly 300 made up flywheel kw, although all of these figures are using 98 octane, and I don't know if you are. EDIT: My rough calculations say you're probably making about 210-215wkw, meaning you likely have another 20-odd kw in your fuel system, and you are probably being limited by the turbo, or something in your exhaust (do the new ones have a catted up-pipe?) or maybe, just maybe, the topmount intercooler. If you're on 95 octane, that's a pretty good number, and the problem is the turbo, end of discussion.1 point

Thanks man, I'm in Gisborne, so bit out the way. It spent a day at a very reputable auto elec, they said fault codes didn't show up anything, they checked fuel pressure and spark and said its very possible its coils. All I know is sometimes when its giving the issues I unplug the TPS and it'll start with it unplugged than plug it back in and the engine idles beautifully. Don't know if there is any subaru specialists in Gisborne seems here they only know how to put on huge exhausts and terrible Rattle can paint job :'( .1 point

cheers 4 responses - ECU is about to go on a holiday to San Francisco. Edward (west_minist & XRT ) recommended Tatrix as well. This morning phoned Tatrix US, spoke to Mike who is a legend, loves NZ and offered to fix and return post the day it arrives. two months in owning my first Subaru I broke it good! .1 point

Lol those stickers mean nothing. I've seen "400kW+" stickered cars do sub 300kw on hub dynos. At the end of the day, it's your car, you don't have to justify your decisions but the guys/gals on here have great advice on how to make your car perform. Don't just be one of these guys: chasing-numbers.jpg1 point

You’re not talking 300kw in the sense anyone else does though. You’re getting an estimated engine kw not wheel kw. Ask your tuner what you’re putting down at the wheels.1 point

I had type some stuff and it was lost due to a failed attachment. Please note most of the time, I reply when I am working or tuning. I do not have time to be wordy and I know it is not the best communication. Tuning takes priority over trying to convey stuff that I think persons can use common sense to achieve they requested answers. I am taking time out to reply to you all here, when I apologies to a new customer (referral to XRT) because I am currently doing the following (all at once) and remembered this forum: Currently working on a 2008 USDM EZ30 Supercharged 2015 2.5i Legacy 2004 JDM STI w/ Blouch Dom 1.5XRT TS running 28PSI+ 2004+ ADM H6 EZ30 w/ new Raptor Header and customer requesting feedback on if tuning is needed - http://www.xtremeracingtuning.com/forum/download/file.php?id=1919 Preparing for 2014 USDM 3.6 5EAT for Supercharging Preparing a 2012 USDM 3.6 5EAT for Supercharging Tuning a 2004 JDM EZ30 5EAT in New Zealand who started tuning last night in the bad weather.
