Subaru new Zealand are being good and are going to do a special price for dash if u want to change it.

There should be a accessory plug in most Subaru's 2001 ish on above the throttle pedal. It's designed for all add ons Op connector subaru https://imgur.com/gallery/Jbqf7

ok team, serious talk now. we are almost exactly a month out now... and we simply dont have the numbers. If you want to come but havnt committed... now is the time, or we run a real risk of cancelling. unless something has changed, standard 100% cotton overalls are fine. i have a few spare sets...

Car: MY10 Legacy BR So I'm wanting to install a dashcam at some point soon, and I'm needing to know the best and easiest source to tap into, to hardwire it in. I'm thinking a wire under the ignition, or somewhere that goes into the drivers-side door wiring. Anybody got a later model legacy and done something similar with a camera or something else that's been hard-wired? I'd prefer not to take the stereo out and get into that wiring, but I will if I have to.

Consider a piggyback fuse at the fuse box, real simple and clean to install. It is on its own, seperately fused circuit. Plus you can easily remove it without damage to the loom. I wired my radar in with one of these, bought a new car and just swapped it straight over easy as.

A magical unicorn if you want full boost at 3500rpm and 350wkw on pump gas. Or you'll be replacing turbos and headers all the time due to the hectic antilag you'll have to run. Maybe nitrous would get you there? A 7163 will spool about that level but only flows enough for maybe 330wkw. 7670 juuuuust flows enough for 350wkw but will spool at more like 4000rpm. Time to make some decisions by the sounds of things.

Yeah,makes my blood boil when I look at my Outback dash and hear that dreaded dash rattle in my Legacy.Considered not getting it done when the paperwork arrived but after reading about wof being knocked back on non complying cars and the passenger side airbag only requiring replacement,why not.Problem was I thought the passenger airbag replacement was like the old Subaru’s,access to airbag by removing the glove box.If I had known that it was a dash out job I would have tried to find someone more competent to do the job.Personally I have removed three Subaru dash’s removing everything to the firewall and replacing with no damage or rattles. I asked the same question at the dealership and was told they will do the NZ cars first and then move onto the jap imports.Subaru are apparently footing the bill.

My dash is heaps F***ed already, and I'm pretty sure I'm affected by this. If I show up with a replacement dash sitting in the boot, do you think they will swap the new one in for me?

I got infinity 6.5" reference. You just hack up the factory speakers to make mounts. Takes about ten minutes per speaker.

Did you have pics of the dash before the swap? The Aussie pages have that happening every other day. With proof they all seem to be getting new dashes which is a decent deal considering most are starting to get sticky and cracking so not far from technically needing replacement anyway

Had both of my NZ new but second hand 2007 Outback and Legacy airbags replaced.Both cars have clicked over 100,000k’s and are in very good condition.Drove Outback in with no airbag light,drove out with airbag light on.Returned vehicle and problem fixed,but damage to dash 25 mm dia vinyl missing,lever marks around center vents,scratched glove box and panels,glove box misaligned.Legacy faired better with dash center speaker clips damaged and a hell rattle.Workshop managers response,I didn’t do the job.Service mangers response,nothing.

Overalls are like $25 there was a topic about cheap helmets last month, think it was in someone build thread after it went a bit off topic. Think it was chicane tha had the cheapest. guess I better get sorted and get harnesses fitted so I can turn up.

The airbag doesn't randomly go off. The issue is with moisture causing corrosion in the inflator casing which can rupture on airbag deployment, sending bits of shrapnel out inside the airbag. Currently only NZ new vehicles are being recalled, all gen 4s for Legacys. Unless you bought your car in the last couple of months, you'd know if it's been replaced or not - you would have had it in at your local dealer. So far my work has done 40 or so. Got them down to just over an hour, and yes, the dash comes out. There's no point annoying your dealer about it. Unless you've had the letters from Subaru NZ, just sit in the queue like the rest of us.
