  1. If companies that did inspections were held liable for anything that went wrong after the inspection, there would be none in business. It's completely unviable. I have learned that most mechanics can not be trusted completely. None will care for your car like you do. That's a very sad and pessimistic view I know. When I find a good mechanic I hold on to them with both hands.

  2. @Pappu1 my two cents after scanning all the replies. Absolutely this company failed at carrying out the service you paid them to do - that in itself is reason for a dispute. The ideal outcome here for you would be a refund of the service fee. If you can get that - just move on and never use them again. They are in no way liable for any repairs on the vehicle and could never be held accountable - I think you already know this however. @Loren had some good points. The one I liked the most is - always go and check the car out yourself. I can sympathise with you entirely, you're in an undesirable situation - just make the best of it. I'd be extremely upset if I was in your situation. I understand it completely and you have every right to be aggrieved. Get that refund and never use them again. PS: This is a great example of 'expectation setting' with your own customers. Undesirable situations like this make you a better person and businessman if you want them to.

  3. Your ps3 225’s may have been a bit stretched on the 9” rims...

  4. Are you putting them on rims that will be only track type use? If so for good bang for buck I have used the Achillies 123s and have found them excellent in dry and not too bad for a simi slick in the wet.

  6. I ran Falken FK 452s on my Legnum VR4. Were 19 inch wheels and tyres were 225/19/35. That combo with bilstein shocks was sheer brilliance. Handled like it was on rails. Did wear out pretty quick though. May have only got like 10k on em. My version 8 STI came with re003s. They were a 215/17/45 if I remember correctly. Handling was amazing. Very very predictable and responsive. Had so much confidence driving with them on. Wheels were Westport forged 17s I think. Then switched to Rota 18x9s on Michellin Pilot Sport 3s 225/18/40. I personally found that combo a bit weird. Couldn't really feel the road as well, wasn't as predictable and didn't have a lot of confidence at the limit. The current 2011 STI has re003s in a 245/18/40 config (if I remember correctly). Feels great and predictable again. Lots of options and opinions with this one aye! Going off my experience I'd recommend re003s. Thats just me though

  7. I’ve had Bridgestone re711’s on a gc8,can’t really comment on tyres I haven’t driven on.The s02’s were the old model.Replaced them with s03’s,didn’t like them.I looked at the ps4s,softer sidewalls, softer compound and way more expensive then the ps4.

  8. s02 is still current and quite different from the old s-02. as good as past bridgestone greats like the re070 and re01r ? with regard to softer compounds on the ps4, there's also a ps4s that's a totally different tyre and replaces the old supersport

  9. Dunlop DII’s awesome on the track, tried my best to break grip but couldn’t do it! (Without crashing :p) Havnt done a lot of road driving on them but they were fine during rain etc, I don’t drive fast when I’m not on the track so can’t say what they’d be like on a wet road while pushing it. what track days are you doing? Is it the play day ones? I’m keen as on any I might have missed ^_ ^ there’s a sweet tarmac sprint happening just outside of Hamilton - a Msnz event Hamilton car club is putting on - on June 10 if your interested I’ll be there ^_ ^

  10. A front pair of Bridgestone RE002’s and 003’s would last me just over 10,000-12,000 K’s.The last decent road tyres Bridgestone made were the so2’s.Changed to Michelin pilot sport 2,3 and 4’s.Way better k’s out of the Michelin’s,quieter, better grip, turn in and great in the wet.Had a new set of 3’s on my Legacy,as soon as the 4’s arrived I swapped them out.The first shipment of pilot sport 4’s were a softer compound and had less writing on the sidewalls. The NZ tyres have a harder rubber compound.I have the 4’s also on my Outback.

  11. Yes you'll easily be able to get 6+++ out of them, they're a good tire but nothing on a semi slick grip wise. Nankang NS2R's are excellent, seeing more and more nankangs at trackdays particularly the AR1's but probably a bit much for the road as well. Currently trying to burn through a set of RE002's that I hate and 4 trackdays haven't made much of an impact on them

  12. not heard anything about country of manufacture vs. quality on the ps4. if you want long wearing tyres, look no further than laufenn (treadwear 360) or achilles (treadwear 400). you may not stay on the track but you'll have plenty of tread left.

  13. I've got Bridgestone RE003 on my WRX. They've managed to be better the the preceding RE002 in ride and noise, and managed to survive Hampton Downs. I know several cars who had them fitted at the last flatnats who swear by them. As a daily they seem better in the wet then the performance Toyo and Falkens I've tried. I've heard they're not the best in very cold situations though. In the standard 205/50/16 fitment my car takes I I've usually managed to get then for about 200 a corner. Also if you've heard of mighty car mods, it's the tyres they fitted to 2 sexy and Gramps.

  14. On my turbo Civic i have at the moment and a couple of cars before this one, i have Zestino Gredge 07RS Semi Slicks and they work mint in both wet and dry, street and track and are really well priced too. It is a lower end semi but definitely does the trick.

  15. I think this is probably dead on. Their service wasn't up to the standard that was expected (or portrayed?) however unfortunately that doesn't mean they are liable for repair costs and/or to compensate you. I'd be very surprised if they agreed to assist with any repair costs. @Pappu1 Personally I'd go to them with your concerns, try to help them better their service by telling them what you had expected from the service they offered and hopefully this will assist with your request for a refund.

  16. So I realise this may be a bit late notice, but I'm driving up to Rotorua on Friday morning, and coming back Monday afternoon / evening. If anybody needs anything shipped between those destinations, then let me know and we can likely hook something up. Chur

  17. After tinkering with my new car the last week or so trying to get to the bottom of a sneaking suspicion something just wasn't right, the New fuel pump and spark plugs arrived today. The pump I pulled out of the car was unbranded and slightly smaller than the walbro that went in. I think the one I pulled out might have been a knockoff because the copper plugs I had in the car for the last few days had white/grey on the tips and I could just feel that she had more power to give, almost like was only getting 90% combustion. New plugs in and pump in. Grounded the coils around the place and also grounded the engine to gearbox/chassis and boys she's responded so well. It took about 15 mins of easy driving before the ecu started to ramp things up again, then I started giving her a good thrashing for half an hour or so and now she's just humming and is driving the best she has. I can feel she's making full combustion almost like the running gear has no weight to it at all, no mili second dead spots when I put my put down, just purring and boosting beautifully, the sound orgasmic. My plasma coils will arrive soon along with synchronic bov then I got to figure out a way to get my pod filter boxed and Im thinking its going to have to be a fab job then I'm gonna book her in with pappu for a humble 16psi road tune. I just knew she would have a slight vac leak or something because I could just feel it, I could feel the slightest bit of weight in the running gear so I started hitting potential causes one by one and Im experiencing that magical moment of joy you get when you have been tinkering with your car crossing potential faults off of your list and discovering all sorts of little worries along the way correcting them when suddenly you get it! and she hauls ass with love! I wanted to post about it because I know we can all relate to this moment and It will be encouraging to some of you who I know are still in that same boat trying to figure out whats wrong with your car. persist brethren and I hope you reap the rewards of winning the fight! I cant wait to wake up tomorrow and drive her to work! v7 sti.
