  1. Got some more work in on the motor, Nothing significant but got the new Twinscroll sump on motor so now to just put on the new engine mounts and exhaust manifold, then onto the engine crane, bolt on the flywheel and clutch and in the hole!

  2. I hate to break it to you but no matter what exhaust or tune you put on it you won't get any rumble. The 05 STI has equal length headers, so they don't rumble, period.

  3. Id say the ECU would have been reset while the engine was replaced as the battery is basically the first thing that comes out when you are pulling an engine. In fact the ECU reset may even cause more pinging than if it was not reset because its having to relearn what it already knew, the JDM TTs ping really bad so reseting it is just telling it to start off at what it would have been set to in Japan which is 100 octane. After a while its going to start pulling timing until it cant pull any more Tune is the way to go! I'm unsure on your location, think you are in AKL yea? There are a couple guys on here that will road tune it for you. But best to get a good dyno tune if you want to get it dialed in nicely Before a tune make sure you run a can of Subaru upper engine cleaner through it and replace all the spark plugs

  4. A straight pipe is illegal even if it is under the DB level. From the VIRM: Reasons for rejection: 1. A vehicle is not fitted with an exhaust system that includes a means of sound reduction (Note 1) (Note 6). .... Note 1: Exhaust system means a pipe assembly through which the engine exhaust gases pass to the atmosphere and includes some means of sound reduction such as a silencer or resonator. Note 6: (external wastgate stuff) https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/exhaust/exhaust-system A stock 05 STi is a tidy car, a turbo back straight pipe would be one hell of a way to change that. Just my 2c.

  6. Are you running an aftermarket intake with a different possibly larger MAF housing? if so that will be fooling it into running lean and largely contribute to pre-det/pinging I dont expect any payment, i'm no professional and would simply be flashing on a tune that someone else has shared with us all to enjoy. I'd probably dial back the boost a little to depending on how those cat-less downpipes are behaving and if the MAF needs scaling we could look at that but this will be more about creating a safe drivable tune so you can keep the thing alive until getting it pro tuned @Pappu1 might be available to take a look for you PM me your mobile number and we can have a chat

  7. Of course, silly me haha. Never pulled a motor, so didn't even think about that.

  8. If its really bad and you need to drive it as its a daily i'm happy to either drop the boost on your current map or flash one on from @Marky until you can get it to a professional And naturally hold no responsibility for anything that goes wrong in the future

  10. Definitely reset the ECU for starters. Just disconnect battery overnight. Then I'd look at getting a tune done. There are a few options depending on where you are.

  11. need to know what all is on the car and what all is planned as part of the ball of mods plus some people prefer different things (power, spool, loud noises...) - no single answer fits all hence we always do custom maps only .. and agreed with Boon - straight pipe will be LOUD and announce your car when you enter your street ... and needs a wof time plan as well cos will be above the DB reading if they test

  12. It will be obnoxiously loud, at least put a resonator in, unless you like yarning with policemen and little green windscreen stickers.

  14. Weather has been great. So, as such, I can do some parts cleaning and in general tidying. The flywheel was the primary thing stopping me from getting the motor in the hole. Rusty as hell. So, down to bunnings wire wheel bought. Cleaned the thing and am happy with how it turned out. Also turns out that -8 pfte braided fuel lines are waaaaay easier to do than -6. Got what I can do without needing the motor in the car to get the right measurements. And for my last party trick. I got my hands on a brand new in package v10 sti twinscroll sump. Delicious. Something about getting new parts innit. Sent from my TA-1012 using Tapatalk
