  1. Used the tow bar on the wifeโ€™s outback for a change

  2. My car has this real cool feature, where I fill up the tank, and it makes the petrol disappear almost instantly. Quite remarkable actually

  3. My old man has owned a MY00 WRX GF8 since new for 19 years, done 260,000's, only thing that's gone wrong with it is the radiator header tank split which is a pretty common issue. Been on trackdays, up ski roads and learnt to drive on by 15 year old me. Basically they're bulletproof if looked after.

  4. I haven't found too much detail on exactly how it is controlled, gather what you can from here: http://www.themotorhood.com/themotorhood/2016/11/17/cool-combustion-water-meth-injection I agree I wouldn't be running WM daily, but have it on a switch for drives/events etc. switch could also turn on higher timing/boost and pull fuel. I think for a road car water meth is better than e85. No issues with it sitting/having to flush or going off, no need to upgrade fuel system completely. But without a good fail-safe(s) or knock control, it can be engine gone if it fails. I've got knock control plus a pressure sensor pre WM nozzle, which needs to be over a certain pressure to trigger the higher boost map and pull fuel. Also hooked up to a light if it isn't meeting the pressure.

  5. They have a few dedicated high hp and race car sessions which are like playdays. Need helmets, overalls etc, I did it last year to learn the track but it rained the whole time so didn't help as it was dry Sunday. I briefly went out in a chrome session but there was too many fuรงkwits around so didn't stay out long. Sent from my M6 Note using Tapatalk

  6. I love my NZ new Spec B 3.0 5EAT wagon, the towing capacity ( 3.0L = 1800kg ), wagon boot space, full leather comfort, nice stereo ( factory ), cold a/c, it's quiet, looks stylish, nice thick steering wheel, just a great all round motor vehicle. Going to be hard one to replace when that day comes, hopefully in a long long time.

  7. Anyone got an email address for Subaru NZ? Nothing on their website, everything is "fill out the form on this page", but then I have no record of what I've sent, and they can just say they don't receive anything. Had the airbag replaced today, super pissed with the state the car was given back to me. Need to give them the chance to sort it out before I name and shame the shop that did it. But if they don't sort it out, you will most certainly hear about it right here.

  8. Ill be there again competing in superlap, will probably do some of the saturday race car sessions and stuff as well since i dont really know manfeild. Hopefully my car runs better this time, I managed a 23 or something on wastegate pressure and backing off due to the car leaning out massively on boost. Ended up having a clogged fuel filter. So def room for improvement.

  9. Pass. Imagine so but not completely sure. @Tony would probably know. It's a plugin so should be seeing the stock one. No o2 setup currently though. I was considering grabbing @Niranโ€™s AEM setup but he may be thinking about keeping it. Even with meth there probably isn't alot left in the turbo but I was definitely keen to see what difference it would make. This one has a VF45 so not quite a TD04 but essentially the same size.

  10. Tough call between cruise control or the keyless entry and push-button start. Think I'd have to go with the keyless system. So nice to get in the car by just grabbing the door handle, the seat adjusting to my programmed position and then getting in and starting the engine without having to fiddle around to find the right car key. The added benefit of just touching the throttle to disengage the parking brake is nice too

  13. I've now decided it's cheaper for me to just get the RA running with the WRX motor I've got in it than it is to trailer/transport it down haha. So I'll do that this weekend.

  14. Thanks Dairusire. Yeah I did take pics, of the dashboard as that is what everyone has had trouble with. Except me. The dashboard is fine, it's everything else. Really pissed right off with what they've done. Just reinforces my thorough dislike for having to get anything done on my cars by anyone, because no matter how simple it is, or how professional they profess to be, they always manage to F*** it up somehow. It's not hard to get good help these days, it's damn near impossible.

  15. that was bad ae last year at chrome in march I entered to learn manfield before I raced in superlap the next day, was following a silvia that did not have a petrol cap and was trying to drift. I came up fast behind him hit his petrol patch and slid towards a new VE commodore, luckily he seen and swerved but there was a lot of careless people that is for sure! play day hold great events

  18. How I haven't given it any real Maintenance for the last two years and still goes. I have to admit it hasn't had an oil change since I had it, only topped up with oil when low!!!!!!!๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Yes with this car I am one of those people. (The wifes car on the other hand is a different story)

  19. Your Emtron ecu is knock sensor capable. @Andy_Mac E85/E70 is your friend for high compression knock limited engines.Sure, you canโ€™t make the Vf45 flow more air but you can add more ignition timing and the compression charge will run cooler.

  20. @Andy_Mac na man you can buy it. I need money haha. Just need to grow a pair and figure out removing it from my car

  24. As everyone goes on holiday or really the stores close down, don't forget spare batteries for you keyless entry remotes. i had this last year and with twin hella horns anywhere near concrete walls it's pretty funny. Well it was for me, everyone nearby outside the car was unimpressed. Especially as I walked way to get a new battery. today I went to push the door open button and what do you know had to take the remote out of my pocket to get a good signal. But I keep a few spares now, and I recommend anyone who can't remember the last time they changed the battery to grab a couple. CR 1632 3v was for my Impreza cost $3 each anyway merry Xmas and happy new year all.

  26. Now look. I may or may not have done something... Which may or may not be going with a twisted turbo kit that fits this turbo that I'm picking up to test fit this afternoon >.>

  27. My experience differs a little from this, but here it is anyway: Years ago I had an Impreza wagon that I removed the rear seats from. I wasn't able to get a WOF unless I had the class of the vehicle changed to a commercial-use vehicle (Class NA), but there was no specification of how many seats, as far as the registration went. My WOF guy (who also did certs) said that a commercial vehicle was only allowed to have two seats, and to make sure that seats couldnt be put back in after the WOF / rego was changed, the seat-bolt holes had to be disabled. This meant welding bolts into the holes. This also meant that since the rear seats had been disabled, this required certification *sigh*. I didn't have to disable the belts, but they did have to be removed. So I did this (spot-welded bolts in place), he certed it and WOF'd it. I then changed the class of the vehicle on the registration to NA, and everything was fine from then on. When it came to disposing of the vehicle, I was able to grind off the spot welds, put rear seats back in, change the class back, remove the cert plate, and it was back to normal again.

  28. Racecar = do what you need to, welding seatbelt holes isn't a major if there is a cage anyway If not a racecar then why bother for the 10kg a seat weighs, unless it's your hektic eg hatch weekend racer
    1 point
  29. I think you may find that as your car is a "rally" car and is caged and runs a log book that it is in a different legal standing The original poster has said nothing about his car being rally or race so maybe just having a 1/2 installed for looks for all we know.
    1 point
  30. yes and no yes you can pass a wof with no rear seats BUT just removing them and the seatbelts is not enough, the holes for the belts will have to be permanently disabled, the vehicle will also have to changed on its registration from a 5 seater to a 2 seater( can be done at VTNZ easily enough ) as if it is still registered as a 5 seater any WOF inspector who is any good will be looking for 5 sets of seatbelts to test.
