  1. I did the wheel spin and both moved the same direction, I thought it was LSD but wanted confirmation as the place I got that info from people were commenting that it doesn't always work, but I was unaware of the the driveshaft trick I don't have a garage so I'll wait for the weather to nicen up first, Thanks for that info though
  2. Hey All Car: 2002 Forester XT Auto (SG5) Transmission Code: TV1b5mbzab I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction or has the info I need, searching google for the Trans code just gives me 6 pages of Russian sites that translate badly I need to replace the rear diff, it's making a metal on metal rubbing noise and the fluid has metal flakes in it (looks like glitter) I went to strongs but they have 4-5 different diffs and he couldn't tell me which one was mine I need to know the Final Ratio (4.111 or 4.444) and if it's LSD or not Also how hard would it be for me to do this. Thanks
  3. Found these on a russian site, downloaded it, sorted it in to folders and renamed the files to make it easier to find stuff I have to replace my front O2 sensor so this helped but I figured if anyone else needed it this way is easier, it\'s on my google drive shared to anyone who uses the link https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0Bz8u6tO669GWWmRoZWk1Q2tGQ3c&usp=sharing Hope it helps I\'m planning to do this with the SF and SH manuals too at some point EDIT: Rather than starting a new thread I\'ll just add to this So my 02 Foz XT threw a check engine code, I used my ELM327 Bluetooth adapter + Cellphone with Torque app and got P0031 Code which equates to: P0031 - Powertrain H02S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1) assuming this is the front O2 Sensor I\'ve been quoted anywhere from $260 for a 2nd hand one too about $380 for a brand new one, I did a little bit of searching on here and found references to Bosch 3 Wire Universal for about $160-180 (Granted these were in threads referring to SF5 Foresters or same year/earlier Impreza/Legacy) I looked at the Bosch catalogue and there are indeed 2 part numbers for my car (sort of?) It lists the EJ205 as an SF Model Part # 0 258 986 507 and EJ251/255 as the SG Model, Part # F 00H L00 053 or 0 258 005 732 (726) I assume because it\'s an aussie catalogue and the aussie SG foresters were 2.5L? I plan on checking the wires to make sure nothing has burnt out before buying but the weather hasn\'t been gracious for outside work, The reason I ask is I could only find a thread on a 2003 BP Legacy with this problem and they only talked about Genuine replacements, So does anyone have any experience with the Bosch on this car or do I have no choice but to go genuine (assuming it\'s actually poked and not just wiring), btw car still runs fine? Thanks!
  4. Fixed it, Went to Mr Muffler in Onehunga, he put on a new RPS Muffler and fabricated a new pipe from axle back as he said original looked rusty, now I got my rumble back When he took the old one off he said it was sitting to far back, and whoever did the piping butchered it, but it\'s all sorted now, Thanks for everyones help
  5. I found a youtube clip that sounds similar to my Foz at present I couldn\'t get the bolts undone on the SF so i\'ve left it, I was actually thinking of buying 1 of the mufflers off Subaruspeed and just changing the pipe over (as most of them are made for the WRX) It seems the muffler I have is popular with Nissan/Honda drivers, when I google it the first couple pages were honda forums
  6. Could I put it anywhere else so I can install the strut bar?, Assuming it\'s in an ideal place now The strut bar I got says it\'s for an SG Forester, but the bar slides up underneath the rubber/plastic behind IC which is where that switch is
  7. Hi Just wondering how hard it is to relocate the bonet protection switch thing in the engine bay I just bought an SG5 Forester and got the car yard to get an AVS S5 alarm installed prior to me driving off the lot, the guy who they got to install it put the bonet protection switch up top behind the IC, so I can\'t install the Cusco Strut Bar that I bought as the pipe hits the switch, Would I have to get an AVS installer to move it or could I do it myself (to the front of the car) Thanks
  8. I\'m not that mechnically minded, I can do basic stuff, how hard is it to check if someone has done this? When it\'s sitting in park u can faintly hear a boxer rumble, but it vanishes upon any acceleration
  9. Ok sweet apparently I got the name wrong too it\'s an Apexi Super Megaphone I got it from subaruspeed.co.nz their info says The A’PEX Super Megaphone Exhaust System was the original single tip muffler in Japan. It popularized the single tip design and set quality standards for performance exhausts. The canister and tip of the Super Megaphone is constructed from SUS 304 polished stainless steel. The tip measures 115mm in diameter and is stamped with its unique logo. This muffler is sure to become a “classic” in the world of performance exhausts. But it sounds like a tin can, Suppose it\'s one of the bad results from buying 2nd hand Would the SF be interchangable with the SG from axle back? just so I can test it
  10. Hi all So I purchased a 02 Forester XT (SG5) a couple months back and put a Apexi Super S diff back muffler on it, Unfortunately it drones like mad and has no rumble at all (slight puff at idle) I thought ok, it sounded like my old BP legacy so figured EL instead of UEL headers, but then today I passed another XT forester (same as mine just red) and his rumbled like my SF5 with an Apexi Mega Phone Dunk muffler. So now I\'m confused, is the Super S stuffed, or did the Red SG replace the headers with UEL for the rumble? To test are the SF5 and SG5 exhausts swappable?
  11. Mine looked exactly like the one they advertise on TradeMe, that\'s where I purchased it from http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/subaru/engines/auction-545174541.htm This is the one I bought Do u know what the code is thats bringing up the CEL? if not o2 sensor, could it be the thermostat one I forget the actual name, but I\'m pretty sure there is down near the bottom of the downpipe that measures the temperature of the exhaust gas
  12. Where in the system did they get installed? Would it be fair to say the resonators reduce the effectiveness of the down pipe a bit? Though i imagine it\'d still be an improvement over stock. How much was it? Before the resonators mine was waaaay louder than webups and way more raspy due to the STI Cannons, So I had no choice in the matter He took out the factory resonator in the mid pipe and installed 1 16" and 1 14" Cost me about $150, but this was about a year ago or so, The guy at Mr Muffler now is an ex Winger Subaru mechanic as the normal guy (Dean?) got injured and is off work for a few months last I heard
  13. I can answer a couple of these questions, before I sold my BP 03 Legacy I had the same mods done, It comes already in black and no CEL. My Legacy had STI Genomes so it sounded like a riced up honda, High revs it went snap crackle pop, went to Mr Muffler in Onehunga and got 2 coby resonators installed, after that it purrrrrrrrrrrrred like a rally car.
  14. Do you have a pic from underneath? by chance
  15. Yeh I got same muffler as you, so just get centre pipe replaced? I\'m enjoying how smooth a ride it is compared to the SF5 at factory height (SF5 was Bouncy), Don\'t think I want to lower it Gonna re source the sway bars n stuff at some point tho
