  1. I've turned up to one of them before when we went to a museum in Gore. Not a bad bunch of people, and good variety of cars turn up from all countries.
  2. Tonnes of space on the field to set up a display after the cruise. Unless we get over 1,000 cars (or more) which is unlikely (most ever was 199 last year). The field is HUGE. Not long to go now. Support the hospice, Southern Skylines doesn't benefit in any way from this event, we just organise it! 100% of the money raised goes to the hospice, 100% of our bills are paid for by our sponsors!
  3. Be there. http://southernskylines.com/charitycruise/ https://www.facebook.com/OtagoCommunityHospiceCharityCruise
  4. May end up having shorter/cheaper cruises for the foreseeable future, unless i organise but get a ride with someone. Money will be quite tight for me for a while.

Almost feels like it belongs in a video game. Vid below taken from our drivecam which wifey had in her car. That looks quite slow compared to how it feels. Then again, i had no cars in front of me. And a few photos (more on the SSE forums) Dunedin Ice Stadium carpark Balclutha sports grounds Kaka Point Kaitangata BMX track
  6. https://www.facebook.com/events/820310414690114/ Could link to our one via your one of that would work (only just created it).
  7. Not yet Ray, should do later this week though. As for Owaka, could see what people think on the day/what the weather is giving us etc and how much time we have. Not sure i've been there before (or Kaka Point, or Kaitangata either).
  8. Next cruise: Sunday 31st May Leaving 10:30am Cruising to Balclutha, then to Kaka Point, then back to Clutha and maybe finish up at the Kaitangata BMX track. Hoose keen? Looks like a nice wee drive according to my trip on Google Maps. Will probably head down the coast through Brighton and Taieri Mouth to get to SH1 after we leave Dunners.
  9. Gore meet, Sunday 19th April Joining up with a guy running 'Mates Car Cruise' on the third Sunday of every month, and heading down to Gore. Will be visiting the Mandeville Aviation Museum and then have lunch at The Moth (part of the museum?). Then we'll head to Pioneer Park. Meet at the Dunedin Ice Stadium carpark between 9-10 am, with a 10am sharp departure.

  13. Time changed, and a BBQ being brought along now too.
  14. Hey all. This year i'm aiming to try have at least one cruise meet every single month instead of wimping out in Winter, so will announce the next meet details below this blabbering each time it comes around. Any type of car at all welcome to attend (or motorbike, van/truck etc), and the only rules are to please hold off on the skids, speeding etc while you're with us. A group of cars is going to attract attention and we don't want that to be negative attention, nor do we want the Police to stop us. Been organising meets for ten or more years now with no trouble from the Police, so want to keep it that way! The next meet is posted as a reply to this topic, so keep checking back! Meets are on rain or shine. http://www.facebook.com/southernskylines
  15. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH, 2013 - TAHUNA PARK, VICTORIA ROAD, DUNEDIN - 9AM-5PM - RAIN OR SHINE ABOUT/PAST EVENTS I came up with the idea for this after my mother passed away from cancer while in the Hospice in 2008. The aim of the event is primarily to raise as much money for the Otago Community Hospice as possible, to say thanks. http://www.otagohospice.co.nz - In 2010\'s event, we raised $2,235.50 for the hospice, with just 155 cars on a rainy day, and with the event ending three hours early! - In 2011\'s event, we raised $1,401.90 for the hospice, with only 75 cars on an even rainier day than 2010! - In 2012\'s event, we raised $2,730.00 for the hospice, with 137+ cars on yet another wet day! It\'s great to see expensive/really tidy cars turning up and cruising even when it\'s raining, like Ferrari\'s, Porsches, late model Mustangs and so on. HOW WE RAISE THE MONEY By charging each driver and each passenger a minimum \'compulsory\' donation of $5 (higher amounts are encouraged if you can afford it) to enter the cruise. And gold coin entry fee (\'donation\') for members of the public at the opening of the car show at 1pm. BASIC ITINERARY AND NEED TO KNOW DETAILS - Pay money to officials (passengers need to pay $5 or more too) - Sign a disclaimer form, so we aren\'t liable for anything you do - Get a small sticker put on your car to show you\'ve paid (any cars that arrive back from the cruise without a sticker will have to pay) - Line up and park where directed - Do above cruise route. Drive safely, its not a race! - Arrive back before 1pm for food/car show etc. - Five trophies will be available to hand out for cars on display after the cruise, best Japanese, American, European, Australian and British cars. ELIGIBLE CARS All exotic cars (Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, Lotus, TVR, Mercedes and so on). All muscle cars (FPV/Tickford and HSV/HDT etc cars, Corvette, Camaro, Mustang etc). Classic cars (Shelby, Jaguar, Mini, Rover, Triumph and so on). Hot rods. Sports trucks/SUVs (Dodge Ram, Ford Territory Turbo, Ford F250 etc). Japanese sports cars (Skyline, Supra, RX-7, WRX, EVO, NSX, S2000, GTO, 300zx/350z/370Z and so on). Japanese \'old school\' classics (Pre R30 Skylines, Prince models, DX Corolla, AE86, RX3 and so on). Vintage cars (Model T Ford, Daimler and so on). Race cars/track cars (if not road legal then tow them on the cruise on the trailer!). If your car doesn\'t fall into any of those categories, does it have any aftermarket modifications (bigger wheels, bodykit, fancy paintwork, rare factory bodykit and so on)? If thats a yes, you can bring it along too - even if it is a 4WD/people carrier (so long as they aren\'t standard looking!). This is also the perfect opportunity to get those prized treasures out of the garage, the ones that very seldom get seen by the public eye. You\'ll possibly have a slightly bigger chance to win a trophy and prize pack for doing so! ENTER YOUR CAR CLUB This event is a great chance for recruiting new members! We\'ll even allow you to set up wee stalls etc around the edge of the grounds so you can have somewhere for people to learn more about your club and join up! CRUISE ROUTE 1. CAN\'T MAKE IT BUT STILL WANT TO DONATE? An account at Westpac has been set up purely for donations from those who cannot make it, for whatever reason. 16. On this Sunday peeps! Burt Munroes son, John, will be one of the guest judges on the day. The Otago Heritage Bus Society will be bringing their 44 seater Leyland bus along for the cruise too! If you\'d like to ride on the bus during the cruise, they are charging $10 per person. After running costs of the bus (fuel etc) are covered, the rest will be donated to the charity cruise amount. Help them fill the bus by spreading the word! And we would love to have more static displays.

  19. It's on tomorrow peeps! Rain or shine! I don't think i'll be back online before tomorrow, so if you have any questions please send me a text or ring me on 021 216 4593. Hope to see some of you there!
  20. Just a reminder about the event! Its not this coming Sunday, but the one after - please spread the word if you haven't already! Dougal Stevenson will be there judging the cars. The Rock will be MC'ing the day. Flick the Fire Engine will be there for the kids. Green Island Lions Club's food caravan will be there (normally seen at Beachlands Speedway). There will be a coffee car there. And so on and so forth. Remember if you can't make it but still want to donate, the bank account details are in the first post (only $30 in there at the time of this post).
  21. Would it be cheaper to respray the whole car or cover the whole car in a coloured vinyl or whatever it is they are doing with cars lately?
