  1. Im pretty much 75% there for the trackday, just got a few large bills to pay first and need to sell at least one of my other cars.
  2. I use the high temp BNT brake fluid, never had an issue boiling brakes in my sti or mx5s. Cheap as too.
  3. Sweet. Anyone got any spare sti badges...
  4. Can i bring my mx5 to the trackday event if I tow it with my legacy.... It has a wrx turbo...
  5. Yep, managed to get it booked in under insurance for 3:30 on friday which was lucky.
  6. Parked car on road last week to make room for new purchase, had this happen. Sigh, assholes.
  7. ae101 gt apex trueo was my first "performance" car in that it was the first car I tracked and had somewhat performance. First proper performance car was probably my v6 sti.
  8. Ive actually got one of those fusion ones that nearly brand new that i keep meaning to sell if you're in auckland. Only problem is that I broke the remote gain thing but was using my HU ot control bass anyway. I bought it for some extra low in my mx5, it was ok but because ive removed the carpet and its such a light car everything just rattles so it sounds a bit crap.
  9. I only mentioned the mx5 since I was literally in the exact same situation so it seemed like reasonable advice. I sold my sti because it was just too expensive to track and also keep as a daily driver, and bought the mx5 because it was cheap fun and i dont have to worry about breaking it. Its not actually any slower than my wrx on a track, more fun to drive, way cheaper parts, and much easier to work on. Engines are 1/5-1/10th the cost, gearboxes 1/4 etc etc. But he said he needs something more practical so that rules them out. Mines practical enough in that I can fit all my tools needed, and bags to go to taupo playdays, but anything bigger than a fox terrier might have issues fitting in it...
  10. +1 Swann, i have it through a broker though.
  11. Buy 2? lol. I have my 3.0r legacy for weekend passenger duties, though my partner has driven it more times in the 6 weeks shes had it, than the last 6 months ive had it. I sold my sti for 10k, then bought the first mx5 and legacy for a little over that.
  12. I sold my mildly modified v6 sti daily/track car and bought an mx5, no regrets, especially not financially Especially now with the boosted one.
  13. The car was very cheap. I painted the piping semi gloss black this evening so it looks a lot nicer at least The intercooler needs redoing anyway since the cooler itself hangs too low. THe car was actually built quitea few years ago as a demo/test car for the supercharger kits, the latest kits are much tidier and use optional water injection instead of an intercooler to cut down on the massive intake path/throttle lag. Its quite fun to drive though, the stretched ling longs make it exciting even, just not the right kind. Those will be going in the next week.. I mainly bought the car for the engine/box/adjustable suspension and hard top to go on my other car, but will be taking both cars to taupo in september and run this as is, as a shakedown on the engine/box before we do. My naturaly aspirated car already corners faster than my old STI, so with a 50% bump in power it should come pretty close in overall laptimes as well.
  14. I have these I got somewhere if you want them uploaded to dropbox or something.
  15. Gave my Legacy to my partner to keep at her house so i could make room for another mx5 in my driveway. This one has a fun party piece in it though and a bunch of other goodies.
  16. maybe? Or skim my other vids. I do have higher quality version that youtube doesnt quality ****... Annoyingly my best sound quality videos are form my mx5 because i kept forgetting to bring my external mic when I tracked my wrx.
  17. With my mx5 ill drive it to events in auckland/hampton downs, and probably tow it to Taupo/anything further. More for piece of mind really, its an old car and things break. Puke/HD are close enough that I can get a ride back to pickup tow car and a trailer, taupo is a bit more of a pain. The couple of trackdays ive done so far at taupo my partner has driven that down and ive driven my legacy, so if something did happen we have a car to get back to auckland and pickup a trailer. Though with it only being an mx5 i could probably just chuck it in the back of someones wagon, its nearly small enough...
  18. Wouldnt that promote more understeer? Front-wheel drives often benefit from a upsized rear sway bar Rear-wheel drives that understeer often benefit from a upsized rear sway bar Rear-wheel drives that oversteer, or pick up an inside rear wheel and spin it, often benefit from a upsized front sway bar In four-wheel drives, combat understeer with a thicker rear bar, or combat oversteer with a thicker front bar
  19. Mine was peaking around 125 after 10 laps at taupo.
  20. I went to HD twice in my v6 with stock sump D: V line the last corner instead of hugging it and you should be fine. Had RE11 tires which arent quite semis but pretty grippy.
  21. Yeah thats what ive heard too. I think itll be safer if i just get them to do it on the dyno. If my fuel maps are mostly ok, ive got it down to around 13.1 afr on WOT im guessing it wont take too long for someone who sells the ecu to do setup the ignition timing on a mostly stock NA car. Im currently just running an ignition base map.
  22. Put my megasquirt enhanced in my mx5 the other day, this tuning stuff is completely new to me bu an interesting learning experience. Ive only got as far as fuel maps so far however, ignition scares me I also need to sort out my starting as it takes a bit longer to crank over than the stock ecu. Planning on trying to learn as much as I can while its na, since its also pretty hard to blow it up while its NA, before going forced induction.
  23. the bnt 600+ stuff is cheap and works mint on the track.
