  1. Hi all just doing a engine swap right this moment on my car and noticed a rather large dent in the sump of the replacement motor, does anyone know if this will be ok or how far up the pickup is from the bottom of the sump. I would replace it now but I'm strapped for time using my mates garage. I did a quick Google and others have been ok, but I'm not sure how large their dent is compared to mine, anyone had a dent in their sump that looks as bad as this? Here is some pics..
  2. I put the 1994 FWD Impreza Steering rack into my RWD GC8 for extra lock.. Also when I did a V7 Engine/Loom conversion into a V2 GF8 I was told we had to use the Rack from the V7, Pulled it out and compared them and they were exactly the same apart from different part numbers. Ended up just using the PS/Lines and PS/Pump from the V7 and the V7 PS/lines fitted perfectly with the 1995 GF8 PS/Rack, So I could imagine most Subaru Impreza steering racks are interchangeable, Definitely V6 RA Rack swapped with a V6 STi Rack, be no problems.
  3. Boon, yes I need more camber on the front, prob about 3.5degrees, the rear though can stay with full contact patch...Yes I thought the same, but experiences from drifting my R32 and WRX, Say 16's are the slippery ones. 17's just seemed to give more grip. But its common knowledge at the drift scene, you'll see most underpowered cars running 15's and 16's at the drift days.. So has anyone tested 16's on Brembo 2Pots before?
  4. Easier on my drivetrain foremost. From experiences in RWD, 16's break traction a lot easier. Though this isn't ideal(I know, I know, grip is key), I thought it would be better than no drifting at all (Broken axel etc....)
  5. Hi there, Im looking at installing some Brembo brakes onto my RWD built GC8, just wanting to know if anyone has tried fitting a 16" rim on the rear with the Brembo 2 pot calipers, Ill be running 17x8 WORK CR Kai's in the front so no problem there. I do have a barrage of 17's I could run in the rear but I'm worried about the rear axels snapping (already had 7 axles snap mid drift), Im upgrading to some 900HP axels and a 900hp Rear Spool for the R180 Diff soonish (as funds allow). I would try test some 16's on my V3 STi RA which has brembos installed already but I live on a hill and my motor is blown (Replacing this weeknd with another V3 STi Motor) so I cant jack it up saftely.. No problems if it doesn't fit, just thought be nice to have good brakes on my hack.
  6. Cheers I also seen it, it's algood it shouldn't be hard to figure out I hope, I'm thinking 1 and 3 go together and 2 and 4... And the ground isn't used anymore.
  7. Hi all, just in the process of putting a v5 motor into my rwd Wrx which is a ver 3. Is anyone able to tell me which wires need to be paired together at the igniter plug as I won't need to run the v3 ignitor. Thanks
  8. Hi all im looking at purchasing a motor and the guy claims it to be out of a version 4 Sti, what I'm wanting to know is can you put the ver1-2 camshaft covers onto ver 3-4 heads. Anyway of telling from looking at the heads to know what the heads are.. Thanks
  9. Didn't end up compression testing it.. But I ended up fixing the speedo and found my O2 sensor was unplugged from doing my flywheel/clutch/box so it's all go now! I brought a v2 RA gearbox and 3.9 ratio r180 diff and put them in when I changed my clutch and flywheel, also swapped the transfer cases over so I still have the dccd. More issues arise though, I have a worn valve stem seal or 2.. the Motor will come out soon to repair that..
  10. Ok that's good to hear thanks kamineko. Also I been reading I might be running too much fuel pressure, its set at 43psi at idle.. But I just read that it needs to be set with the Vac line to the FPR off... then with it on it should sit around 32-36psi. But I guess that's a different thread....
  11. Also there is a lot of black carbon deposits all over my rear bumper near the exhaust.. I will compression test the motor tonight.
  12. This is another random note about what was affected after my Flywheel/Clutch Change/gearbox change. My car was running more boost after the change. was reaching 1.3-4 bar when I had my boost controller set to .9 bar. I lowered the Duty Cycle and this brought it back down, but I didn't notice it until last night. So have done a few hard pulls on 1.4 bar... Possibly my motor is hurt? as it smells like a lot of gas and a tiny bit of smoke will come from the exhaust when I rev it on the spot to about 6-7k RPM... Dtech said this was fine but needs the Fuel mixture checked.. I don't know tho. I thought smoke coming out of the exhaust was oil burning?
  13. Ahh yes I will make a ground up and install it on the gearbox connecting to the firewall. Actually no... my speedo is not working, Will be fixing that today, do you know what problems this can cause?
  14. Will check the o2 sensor soon, Just went to Dtech, didn't seem like anything to worry about but my fuel pressure of 3 bar is too much the guy reckons.
  15. Yea could well be electrical issue, Is there is meant to be a earth from the gearbox to the body? If so my car is missing that. I Didn't think to check the plugs, I mean she boosts fine. But I can smell gas... Im gonna take it to Dtech at lunchtime.
