  1. Sorry if this has already been a thread before, but i recently got picked up an 07' Impreza S-GT, 2.0 Turbo 5 Speed. Excellent car and I'm having a blast driving it. Anyway, the car has just under 170000 k's and I believe it's time for me to do a service - oil, filter, etc. What are some other things you guys generally do when servicing your turbo Subaru's? I was having a gander at servicing videos and the general service seemed to include cleaning the AFM, resetting the ECU, and top engine cleaning? I feel like some of it is a bit unnecessary but and pointers are greatly appreciated. I feel and oil and filter change would be sufficient enough?

  3. Hi there, I am looking to import a 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI (Non S204/Spec C/RA-R etc) from Japan as a 'Special Interest Vehicle'. After 10 years, I am finally in the position to be able to get one. The reason why I have chosen to import is that they are basically non-existence and they never pop but for sale. I have done my research extensively and of the 3 criterias for importing one, I am able to fulfill 2 of them. The one im struggling to find is that they were produced in volumes of less than 20,000 annually. Just based on the fact that I see more blobeyes and bugeyes comapred to hawkeyes leave me to believe they did produce less than 20,000 of them. Would anyone know where I could find the production numbers or if someone has imported one in the past, to point me in the right direction? A friend of mine have imported one back in 2017 so i know it is possible. Plus, there have been a few in the NZTA list in the past few years. Thanks Heaps
  4. Hey guys so after months of a headache with my wrx I've decided too come here and see if anyone has experienced what my cars doing. So resently my 1996 wrx gc8 type ra. Has a check light issue. Everytime I start the car check lights on. And stays on. If I let the car warm up for 30min minimum. Then turn the key off then back on quickly check light disappears and wont return untill I turn the car off for longer then 5min. Have done a diagnostics check and came back with error codes 24 44 and 45. 24 idle air control sensor. I have replaced no change at all. 44 turbo wastegate regulator and 45 map sensor. I haven't replaced these two as of yet as I'm not sure why when the car is cold it would effect these two sensors? Have noticed today when I first started the car I made sure check light was on then turned car off connected the diagnostic plugs under the dash and anyone who has done this will no that the fans ect will all come on going thru their test cycles. Well when cold and check light present the wastegate pressure solenoid does nothing. But after leaving the car to idle for 30min then getting the check light to turn off. I quickly turn car off connected the plugs under dash and the wastegate soilenoid now clicks loud and fast as it should. Sorry for the long write up guys but surely someone can help me out?
  5. Thinking of upgrading the sound system in my V7. I find that my current setup doesnt cope that well. I have a JVC KW930BT headunit. I don't want to spend much so im thinking about just doing front speakers+tweeters for now. I Went to abtec audio and they quoted me a pair of 'DD CS5' speakers with tweeters for $199. Id like to hear what everyone else does and what I should look for.
  6. USD 184.60Hi Guys, I was wondering if there is a plug and play replacement for my Impreza sti v3 injectors (yellow side feed). Also, anyone knows for sure what's the flow rate? I've been reading different information everywhere and I couldn't get anything from the manufacturer. In fact, I'm not even sure what's the manufacturer for these ones! Some people say these are 440cc, others 480cc and a whole other bunch of people say 550cc (Part # 16611AA231). I wanted to replace them with new ones but these are quite expensive (USD 184 in jp-carparts and USD 134 in partsouq, each!) and hard to get. Does anyone know a direct replacement that can be used? or perhaps a rebuild kit? or any ideas on a replacement for these ones without breaking the bank!! LOL Cheers guys!

Hi Guys, So in a mission to find a STI style front lip for my 06 legacy wagon i ended up being forced to buy 5 (Minimum order qty) - the surplus 4 sold in 30 hours so i have decided to to a group buy as i have found a very good supplier who has well priced stuff for every car under the sun. The problem is there seems to be a lot of USDM specific parts around that wont fit us here in NZ but i have spend a lot of time and found some good NZ options. My Plan if anyone is keen is as below :- PM, email me ([email protected]) or text me (021 1310363) a picture and details of your car or another car off trademe with your EXACT same bumper . I will send you the options for your car some will have 1 Poly urethane option some will have up to 3 PU and 1-2 Carbon Fibre options. You let me know which one you like. I will get pricing from supplier cost up the freight,Duty and GST and quote you a fair price. If we agree on a part you like and a fair price i will setup a trademe auction for $50 buy now so you have peace of mind that im not just going to keep you $50 and not deliver. I will use the $50 as a deposit and i will pay up front for all the parts with my own money.Ill then do all importing donkey work, shipping, customs clearance, duty and gst payment etc. We will have to wait 25-32 days for goods to get into NZ and get through customs. When all parts arrive here i will send pictures of your specific goods and myself to prove parts are physically here and are undamaged (if any goods are not supplied right or broken/damaged i will refund $50 deposit and take up the issue with supplier myself) Once balance of payment is received i will dispatch goods accordingly or you are welcome to come to my home (east auckland) and collect. I am prepared to take all the financial risk and will not be looking to make a huge profit here - enough to cover the cost and a small margin for my time and finance - any goods that are not good quality or turn up damaged i will take that exposure and return your $50/deposit. Please feel free to find picture of lips or parts you like and i will try an find them at a reasonable price - my day to day job is procurement and logistics so hunting Asia and Europe for clients is an 8-9 hour a day thing for me so please send through a pic of what you would ideally like.   8. Hey all. I'm new to the forum so please don't bite my head off if this isn't the place to post this content. I had a question regarding my 99' Impreza SRX (non-turbo). Is it possible to switch a SRX bonnet (no scoop) for say, a WRX bonnet with a scoop? Or does a car have to have turbo for a scoop? I have found the same Impreza colour (Gun Metal Grey) scoop bonnet on Trade Me and was wondering if I could even attempt to switch that with mine. Also, the bonnet I have seen on Trade Me is currently sitting on a hatchback. Would that effect fitting if my body model is a sedan? Thank you in advance for any questions answered
  9. 08’ Impreza 2.0R manual, 214xxx k’s. I have had the car for about a week and I’ve noticed when driving it that the car has a slow/flat/sluggish spot around 2000 until 2500 rpm where it struggles to accelerate. The revs kind of fluctuate up and down around and it slowly climbs until it hits around 3k rpm and it accelerates fine. Some days are worse than others, sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not. My first guesses are are spark plugs and leads or something wrong where it’s starving it from fuel? Maybe a fuel pump or the likes of. Any ideas?? Thanks guys.
  10. Hey team Ive managed me score myself a nice deal on a new daily driver which is an 08’ Subaru Impreza 2.0 Manual. Super nice car for the price and really my first decent car that I’ve owned. I’m looking for advice on lowering the car at some stage, what sort of route to take, easy and sensible options for this car. I was wondering is struts and springs from a WRX or S-GT from the same era would be an idea? I reckon these cars look super nice on a decent set of wheels and a wee bit lower to the ground. Correct me if I’m wrong but the stud pattern for the wheels is 5x100? Could anyone advise me on the offset of the wheels, etc for when buying aftermarket wheels? I’m not that clued up on them. and for anyone who has owned the same sort of car, what are some general modifications you did to the car to improve anything from basic engine performance, driveability, servicing, and general things I should keep and eye out for, whether it could be problematic or not? Any help is appreciated Cheers.

  12. So I bought an old 1994 impreza hx 4wd last year and the shifter bushings have completely worn out. The play in gear feels just like neutral. I have been searching high and low for new bushings or even the whole replacement assembly but have had no luck. Does anyone know where I can locate some, aftermarket or OEM I'm not fussed, Cheers
  13. Hey guys so recently my newly-bought WRX refused to start and the garage I got it towed back to who installed my alarm - have diagnosed it as a fuel pump issue. I'll need a new fuel pump put in. I just want to know if a quote of $550 is a fair price or am I getting ripped off? At the time of the fault I would have had the car for less than a month and I would have done less than 1000kms in it lol. So I'm preparing for a motor vehicle disputes tribunal case.. as a former employee of mvdt I think it could get to that stage.
  14. Hi Team, I am after some roof racks for my 2002 Impreza which is proving to be an absolute nightmare!! I have been to a few placed to see what my options are, turns out there pretty much aren't any. The only solution that has been offered is having perm fixed Thule racks installed at a cost of $900.... Something about this doesn't seem right to me as Subaru's are well known for they're durability and sporty outdoors identity. I cant be the only one that is having this issue so just appealing for some advice, tips, options or hacks to help get some racks on my car! Any feedback will be greatly received!! Thanks in advance
  15. So I recently bought a 1994 Impreza 1.8l for my first car and I've been having a couple small issues with it. Occasionally it just won't start, the engine turns over but won't fire. This doesn't happen very frequently, maybe three or four times over the last couple months I've owned it, and seems to happen when I am restarting the car after just turning it off. Hey guys looking for some advice here. yesterday i parked my un-warranted Sub on a public road in wellington, and got absolutely destroyed with fines. $200 for: Operated an unlicensed motor vehicle-parked vehicle and another one issued at the same time for: No evidence of vehicle inspection also $200. now i have heard that i could write a letter saying that i am a poor student and provide evidence that i have now got a warrant and possibly get the fine waived or i could go to court but i am not sure what the costs or risks are involved with doing that. any help would be greatly appreciated cheers.
