You sound like a conspiracy theorist to me..

Haha na. I took a punt on the stuff Koom listed which was the stuff I was referring to. Got my Elfs and Trols confused.

whats recomened runing in oil ?? ej20tt?

hmm keeping an eye on this, dunno what to use to run in even tho i'll be building up an engine properly next year when funds allow

You can buy oil that is specifically for running in. Its non-synthetic and available at most retailers i.e. Repco, BNT etc.

Don't use anything synthetic until you've broken-in the motor otherwise the rings won't seal nicely.

5w-30 will give you better cold performance than the 10w-30. I have been using 5w-30 edge for the last two oil changes and it has been a good oil. I am going to go one thicker though next time. A petrolhead at work just sent me an email summary of all his hard research into oils. Appears Mobile 1 is not to gold standard people think it is. Best oil that is widely available appears to be Valvoline Synpower 0w-40 - Which is normally around $60 for 5L.

Royal Purple is probably the best oil you can find in the viscosity subarus require but it is hard to get hold of in NZ.

Doesn't Supercheap Auto sell it? I'm pretty sure I see it in there whenever I go in

Which Supercheap? I haven't seen it at the Mt Welly store. Not on their website either.

I don't think SC stock Royal Purple. STA Parts stock it

Heads up:

Castrol Magnatec 10w40 4L is currently on sale for $30 at the warehouse

Castrol GTX 15w40 4L is on sale for $22.99 at Supercheap.

Unsure if these are just local/regional or nationwide specials but it may be a good idea to check them out if any of your vehicles drinks either of the above.

Screw Magnatec! >:(

I'm friends with someone who's worked at an autoparts chain for a long time (it ends with *****cheap) and of all the oil they buy in,Magnatec is the cheapest,by a HUGE margin.

Other oils,like Mobil,Valvoline,Penrite etc,they make about an $8 - $10 profit on,max.

Magnatec,I crap you not,they buy in for $8.50 for 4 litres! :o

That's the reason most garages stock it and push it,it's cheap crap and if your engine grenades, they get to make some more money off you by rebuilding your engine ( A Subaru tech at Wingers told me this, when I asked him why they used Magnatec!).

My car was running 10-30 Magnatec, when I bought it,it had an oil and filter change a month before I took posession...As soon as I found out it was Magnatec,I drained it and filled it up with 10-40 Nulon.

The Magnatec I drained out looked as dark as marmite.

The Nulon's been in the car for three months and is as clean as the day I put it in.

The car LOVES it.

It's quiter, runs cooler and is staying super clean.

Royal Purple did an oil shootout test and Magnatec came in last...WAY last.

Penrite came first,Royal Purple second and Nulon third.

Gotta be an unbiased test for their own product to come in second...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
