actually at the start of this thread someone said that its warmer in wellington, in the winter maybe but in the summer the south is way hotter than the nth island. also much drier all year down here

I GTFO out of SI real fast. I found that Welly drivers are 10x worse which means I don't have to crash into anything anymore, they crash into me. Saves me the effort of having to crash into things.

Wellington is windy because of a combination of Christchurch sucking and Hamilton blowing.

My opinion:

South Island has some of the greatest country in the world with access to the best skiing( I dont care what you say the powder is better here) in the land, the place is relatively uncrowded.

Christchurch is getting a lot more multicultural and with more diversity in terms of restaurants etc. Well before the EQ.....

Auckland wins for stuff to do and access to more shopping, foods, etc etc.

Each to their own.

Best place I have ever been to: Taipei, Taiwan. Id live there in a heartbeat!

Definately, I lived in Welly just about all my life, and now nearly two years down south and loving it.
