clean, bore hone block, disassemble heads, cracktest heads, port and polish heads. new crank, JE pistons, eagle rods, acl bearings, arp headstuds, new genuine sti clutch, new oil cooler, cam belt pullies and tentioner, new fluids and filters all around, and labour.

everything in the engine bay that was showing signs of ware was replaced apart from the turbo.

i think thats the whole lest anyway.

How much power did you get out of your engine from bruce saxon?

How does a complete performance engine from PBmotorsport compare to the ones built by our local rebuilders performance and reliability wise?

Bruce has done work for possum in the old days. id always suport local over anything else, and my engine has never missed a beat.

power is ralitive, its a good strong base to work from. as long as your ecu knows what to do.

Or an EJ207 shortblock from Subaru? Not sure how much they go for these days ~$2700-$3500??

Mine cost about the same as Ray's last time I did a full rebuild on it with new internals. If you're re-using the pistons and rods and not messing with the heads, it makes it a bit cheaper. Think its still about $4k to $6k from most places for a rebuild but at least you know what you're getting unlike if you go 2nd hand. (But 2nd hand is usually much cheaper).

Yeah id say 6k at the least if you going forged and new cambelt, water pump all new gaskets and seals etc...

Prices pretty steep these days for parts..

yeah mate some shops (theres one in rotorua) that have 2nd hand short blocks with new forged internals for say $3-4k on swap of your blown short block. i know youre in the SI but maybe there is somone down your ways that could do the same.

allow for a oil/water pump. may as well do all idlers and cambelt/tentioner and a seal & gaskit kit.

like the others said about 6k

Sorry to hear about your engine troubles.

Just out of interest,were you thrasing it when it let go?

Had you changed the oil and filter since you purhased the car.

Also the power produced from an engine is mainly dependent on the bolt on parts,ie turbo,exhaust,ecu and the amount of money you can afford for extensive tuning.

The amount of time that the engine will provide good power is increased by how much time and money is spent on building a strong long block.

Basically you will get what you pay for.And even then there are nothing to say the engine will stay togeather if it is asked to perform at near its max output.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
