looking at getting an after market BOV and Air filter, I am running a simmota panel filter at the moment. wat would you suggest for BOV for a V9 sti and is there any point in really getting a pod filter?

i dont think a pod is an upgrade at all unless you have something to get cold air to the pod etc....

Pod is not really going t get any more power

Maybe a bit of intake noise but nit worth if don't have a cold air intake

Bov is cool if u like thT sound otherwise for stock setup it won't give more power

Have u for mod plans

Yeah man . Blow off valve is purely what you (the owner of your car) like . . Ie I like the old gen 1 sequential sound.others probably hate it lol....plumback works great

And will give less hassle with a STOCK ECU and is more legal( rumours about external venting bovs on the "hate" list )

blow off vlavles are illegal yet in nz only aussie so far

The virm clearly states that if a blow off valve is over 95 db it is illegal and you can get pink sticker . . . . . You can even get a fine if your car stereo is deemed to loud from the out side by a cop . . . 95db is how loud any thing can be on a car legally

you gota have a prty loud bov then.my ssq is loud but i wouldnt say its 95db

Bro 95 db is pretty quiet . Talking is around 70 - 80 db . . Mine would def be way over 95 with some decent boost

Also it has alot to do with vehicle emissons, how many of our external bovs have a film of oil coming out of them...all of this is being more frowned upon

Its quite stupid though how they want plumbed in blow off valve and breather systems etc because if you keep it in the engine its going to in through the combustion chamber at some point . . Creating smoke . . . Thus creating emissions lol

funny how every one runs a catch can back in the day ( and still even now) the engine breather breathed ONTO the road

Yeah when you go for cert now your ment to have the catch can still recirculated . . . .

I had an Apexi intake on the V9 and switched back to the factory airbox. I noticed no difference in performance apart from the reduced noise of the factory airbox. Even the Simota filter doesn't do much compared to the factory filter - this info was gained from logging the AFM voltage after switching filters and difference was negligable - again all I noticed was an increase in noise from the Simota filter.

Instead of a BOV I would put the money towards a tune - you will see much more benefit from that.
