Snow Runs - Dunedin

Andrew NR

Recommended Posts

Ok, so in another attempt to inject more life into the Dunedin branch of ClubSub I thought I might start up a snow run thread.

Post up here if you are planning to do a fun run in the snow and where so the rest of us can join in. Also, for those with magic snow sensing powers, if you could post up if you know where and when it's going to snow so others can plan a run too. :-*

Sounds like a great idea, I missed the opportunity to get up to Cargill the other day so I'm more than keen to chase it down now.

Cargills a bit shit to be fair...ok if its only a light dusting. But its incredibly dangerous if it has a decent dump(due to steepness of road when coming down) whari flat is mean. Has heaps of parkup spots. Still slightly dangerous but no where near as bad...there is also the road out at outram. Altho i have never been up it in the snow but could be well worth a trip...wind those adjusties up and take ya front kit off... :)

Or roll out in a standard height forester, hahahaha, not so good on the roads but they were built for snow! All it needs is a more experienced snow driver now :P, bring on winter...

Today was only the 2nd day I'd driven it and it was dodgy enough in the wet. Also, it seems there's only maybe 3 or 4 corners you can really hang it out wide.

Not that I've done something like that on a public road.

Thanks for the location info Josh. Would you mind pointing out on Google Maps where the spot on Whari Flat is? And yeah, I was looking at the edge of the road the whole time I was up Cargill in the snow :o

i so wanna take a golf r in the snow. but that would be a hell no :(

and an auto rolla wont be that fun

If you get ice the rolla will be more fun than you think... my mate has a levin and he just puts tight fitting chains on the front then just drive with the handbrake on pretty much the whole time haha, cardies road has never looked so fun... thankfully for my sake I've never actually been in the car with him while he drives like that (gotta love being in the subie cruising past people putting on chains for 2wd cars)

I'm probably going for a cruise up Cargill this afternoon if you want to join me, I'll probably take a thermos and sandwich as well :P

Length of stay depends on how busy it is - if it's quiet I'll stick around for a bit.

The wife and I went up Mt Cargill at 1:30pm for a picnic and there was still some powdery frost and I've covered puddles up there. I'll be making a run tomorrow morning if there's snow.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
