Engine swap

Now the one thing that hasn\'t been confirmed is what is the car? is it an Sti or is it just a standard WRX? He only mentioned looking at a V2 Sti motor and then the second one he mentioned is a standard non Sti motor. I\'m not sure about the compression differences, i have done a few swaps with putting ex auto engines into manual cars and noticed absolutely no difference to the original manual motors as far as performance goes. The one thing is that i find generally the auto ones have had a better life and not been thrashed as much, possibly a combination between different ecu/tunes and the lack of control with an auto that you have with a manual.

OP has a V2 STi. I was just throwing that up because the ECU of the manual might not be able to correctly compensate for/any compression ratio differences and the internals of an auto being weaker.

if he runs the auto long block and uses his original manifolds and turbo with his factory ecu it will be fine, the only issues may arise if later he wants to extract a lot more power, It all comes down to what the plan is, if he wants to make it useable without spending lots of money then the auto motor will be a good cheap option, if he wants to start extracting lots more power straight away then maybe a conversion to a V5/V6 Sti would be better, but again it depends on plans/budget.

Awesome to know!

Yeah the manuals use a different waterpump with an additional water line to run to the sandwich plate on the oil filter which you can retrofit to an auto motor by swapping over the coolant lines and using a manual waterpump.

Sorry tim Op is v2 wrx,

& all mine ran the exact same water pump setup with oil cooler sandwiched plate

I\'ve been running auto ej20g for almost 14 years

But as times have changed & mods are everywhere nowdays,

Depends if zachs looking for boost/turbo/ecu/radiator upgrades then a forged longblock should be the go it won\'t be cheap but without the tools & know how it\'d be better option than having more issues down the track.

or maybe just a good going over of what he\'s got & what he\'s looking for out of it

:)

Yeah that\'s basically my point, if the car is currently a non Sti V2 then the auto motor will be fine for a standard replacement maybe with a few upgrades for a few extra HP, if he is wanting to start chasing greater power then going forged is the answer but again it depends on intent and budget.

Man epic reads thanks alot. The car is not Sti as I once thought. It is jdm spec with a few sti parts here and there. Maybe even a td0h5 turbo.

Once I get the car running healthy it\'s just going to be a nice a- to b as I love subarus. Maybe a few 3rd gear pulls if these v-techs keep tailgating me lol :D

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
