fuel surge tank & anti surge options for track

who here has installed a surge tank? how large was it? what pump did you use for the lifter?

my impreza is becoming more track orientated and i have big issues with right hand corners on less than half a tank of fuel.

Koom mentioned to me a setup he was trying, some kind of reservoir for the normal pump, fed by the return.. i was drinking at the time and have forgotten.. does it work?

anyway cars in bits and wont be put back together without some form of anti surge.. so advice please :P

Have made a couple of these now and using one in my car and another in the RS rally car. Haven't tracked mine yet so can't 100% say that it works but have had the car down on the very very low fuel level a few times without any hint of surge on the local roundabouts. Had no complaints of surge in the rally car either but doubt they were making much grip in the rally the other day, I could barely stand on the roads they were that muddy so grip as at a premium.

The GC8 we used to run had the factory Spec C one that I modelled this one off and that could run right down to empty around ruapuna without any fuel surge.

If someone sponsors me to turn up to Ruapuna on the 18th I'll test my current one out. Have plans kinda drawn up on the laptop for it and can also build to order at the mo.

im goin to run fuel cells, the ones i looked at have a low point pickup for an external pump, and a foam stuff in the bottom, to limit fuel movement at low volumes.

Was just speaking with Chris (CASPROS) about this very thing....

Here is my set-up:

surgetank2.jpg

Walbro in-tank pump, going through Bosch inline fuel filter to the surge tank (2 litres I think it was?), then another inline filter to the Bosch 044 external pump.

Koom - if you do make a few of these up I would be very interested in one.

There's been a bit of interest in these lately. I think I've got the final design sorted so I'll be looking into making a few in the very near future. Will keep you notified.

your current std intake pump is fine for MEGA Kw (300+) when used as a lift pump to surge tank ( as it is running at no pressure, it's all flow )

Will post pic of the Coupe surge tank with Bosch 044 main supply pump

Note to ALL, re STD BRAIDED FUEL LINES They are not suitable for ANY in cabin (inc boot) routing

The std braided hose (rubber internals) han not handle our fuel and will smell badly

(wont leak but the Tourlene (spelling?) content leeches thru the hose and will smell of raw fuel

Teflon Insert braied hose is fine, as is the blue push on fittings

Guest Fastfour

I have braided lines running through my cabin and can attest to the smell. Wish someone had told me this before doing it.

I told the place what I would be using it for and thy said it would be fine :(

oh, have you had any other type of hose recomended to you?

when i get round to doin this, i dont really want to smell fuel.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
