98 Wrx gf8fk8d ecu has 3 plugs and has 8s on it

Yup then all those ecus ive mentioned will work.

Everyone is confusing you. If your coil pack is in the middle of your intake manifold then Yup v3/v4

Does it have a 260k speedo?

you can use a 1S from JDM V3 WRX ecu which is tuned and matched to a VF22,orange AFM, yellows. and rated @206kw factory. or you can use a 6S from a V3 STi which i believe has a more mild tune

I used the "75" ecu from a V4 STI RA which has a nice factory aggressive tune when I did my conversion

P-sure the 1s has the mild tune and the 6s has the aggressive tune being the STi ECU and the 1s being the non-STi ECU.

And I\'ve been told that the EJ20G in the Wagon has a 9:0:1 C/R too, something to consider when doing this mod.

do a comp test and see what readings you get . compare with sti motor . might be down to a usable level ;D

in reality isnt 1 point in compression = to requiring 3 ron ?

and seeing as we are all 2 points down on the jap 100 yet every sti hasnt holed its pistons ?

and if it knocks its goin to back the base timing off to somewhere its happy ? they dont blow up as soon as you put 95 in the tank do they .

Hahahaha

Go old school

Run 3 headgaskets sandwiched together, hey if you get it down round 7.0:1 then you can run 25psi all day errday

- on a more useful note - it\'s one of those "there are no good outcomes to doing this" things - at best it will run ok until you hit some bad gas, at worst it\'ll kill an already 20 year old motor rapidly

Could using the likes of an S-AFC to pull timing / dump fuel help - or would it negate the gains of using the ecu altogether?

As i said earlier, seems easy enough, but will probably turn into a mission.

Having a 260kph speedo doesn\'t that give a big clue to it being NZ new, which means even IF the compression ratio was similar, there would need to be some wiring changes.

Maybe an easier way to attack it is converting WRX hatch to WRX sedan ECU. Ie: same 205kw as STI but less aggressive tuning involved. Or is there still compression ratio discrepancies between sedan and hatchback in straight WRX form?

AFAIK, yep. Non-Sti wagon = 9:0:1 C/R, STi\' Sedan and Wagon are the same. WRX sedan is different at 8:0:1 or 8:5:1. Could be wrong, but that\'s my understanding and a chat with a respected mechanic in chch about doing this mod to my wagon was that he\'s done it and he would not recommend it.

BUuuuttt;

A member here years ago did this mod and then dynoed his car and there was no det.

However, if OP\'s wagon is NZ new, it might have a different c/r altogether.

Correct marky ALL V5/6 variants run the insert type same as rev a/b/c.

/quote]

Version is taken from mode year which is driven off the revision coding.

For the last time. FFFFFFF is version 5

Dont follow how that works. OS is V5- with insert though regardless of applied gonadcode.

FMIC+98=no ping pure win lol.

the fact that his car has a 3 plug ecu and that they are yellow tells me that the op\'s car is v3/4 also the fact its a ej20g confirms this as well, i\'m guessing it\'s a very late v4 and its right on the switch over to v5??

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
