Auto Transmission service in Welly?

Can anyone recommend a good place to get my Auto serviced in Wellington or Lower Hutt?

I called a few places to get a simple trans flush on my auto legacy.

-

1st place - $320 + GST

2nd place (reputable gearbox workshop) - $180 + GST (told this guy about the 1st quote and he pissed himself laughing)

3rd place - $215 + gst + extra fluid if needed (which it did - 3L @ $16.50/litre) (took it to these guys as I trust them and needed other minor work done that the gearbox workshop couldn\'t do)

As above too but note the later model BP/BL onwards have reflashable / learning TCU\'s and the dealerships update and reset them during trans work if you wish.

I think its recommended every 50k kms or so anyway. I found this most worth while.

worth doing if just going for a flush and new fluid?

I cant see any record of it being done on my BL

sorry have just re-read, note its a you pay thing, and is not mandatory.

they should have at least offered it to you.

there was no mention of it at all. Will have a chat n see what they say

When Armstrong Subaru do a fluch they use the exact same Wynns flush machine every other workshop would,but charge you an arm and a leg for it. Flush should be done at least every 50k.

They will only do a TCU update if:

A) There is one available and you ask for it

B) A Problem has been found with the TCU

C) A service bulletin has come out saying it needs doing.

Ive only ever done one on a 2004 Outback 3ltr. It did shift nicer afterwards, but that may just have been because the old man owners driving habits had been erased....

I reset my TCU the other day and wow did it make a difference when the cars cold. it used to like to hold gears until 3500 when dead cold and was a pain. now changes normally from cold to hot

they start relearning new driving behaviour too when reset.
