Tuners in Christchurch - Apexi power FC

So weighing up options with tuners at the moment. Unsure on who everyone recommends for APEXI POWER FC

I\'ve never tuned a car before so I only know of

NZEFI

Spec performance

RE Sinclear (do they do apexi?)

So give me ideas on who to use and who is reasonable to deal with. I\'ve heard mixed opinions about them all but Im more interested in people who have tuned apexi rather than link

gotasuby get into that stuff? Then run it on a dyno after for big boy rights.

unsure about the Apexi stuff, i got my Possum link Tuned at NZEFI and tune was miles better than it was, good guy to deal with and didnt sting too much on price

from my experience all tuners have stories like that as well as horror stories of "you tuned it wrong and it went bang". unless you hear it first person never sure if it was the build of the motor(or old unbuilt/unknown motor for that matter), tuning or just out and out bad luck.

be honest with whoever you pick about whats in the motor and what history you know of it. talk to the tuner and go with one you trust, hopefully someone else will have someone with experience with the Apexi tuners?

The engine is (as far as I know) Standard. I\'m not expecting much in the terms on longevity but I would prefer someone who has tuned a fair few of those ECU\'s so it\'s not massively time consuming ect. The engines got 250kms on it so I doubt it will take much to pop it but hopefully the tuner can take that into account when tuning. Or is it a complete gamble tuning a high kms engine?

Long road I\'m looking at rebuilding a CD block with v3 sti or gtb heads. Nothing super powerful don\'t really see the point. How ever this is hopefully going to be further down the track somewhere... Aiming for 6-12 months before I "need" to do this haha see what happens though. Still very early days

You better going to someone who has the apexi software , I know NZEFI does.

Im sure Jason can tune via the hand controller but you will get a better tune with the laptop software as the tables are higher resolution than whats accessible via the hand controller.

I have all the computer connection bits as well So plug an play just need the software. I\'ve had a chat to spec performance and they are giving me good impressions so will probably go see them to get advice. Still interested in what others have to offer

I used Spec Performance for my tune. Flat rate of $800 and it took two days for three unique tunes using SI Drive.They seem to know what they're doing, but their business ethics are pretty suspect. I wouldn't use them again.

That was a factory ECU reflash in a BL Legacy.
