Twin turbo setup on single turbo ecu?

Recommended Posts

im wondering if i could rewire my current Twinturbo to single run yellow injectors and ornage afm to match a 6s or 1s v3/4 wrx ecu and change the boost soleonoids to single turbo v3/4 but still retain the vf18/19 combo and exhaust and mayb just run different boost lines to mirror a single turbo setup?

is this possible??

Depends on controlling (or jamming open) the change over valve that opens when the secondary starts boosting doesn\'t it? I would guess that it wouldn\'t be to difficult to get it running. Not sure if it would gain anything though?

Hmm not looking for a gain but better feel than twin turbo vod. I\'m guessing it could be done easier if the two turbos were td04s or similar and running vac lines together to each wastegate and turbo nipple and teeing them back to the v3/4 solenoid to control . A lot if work would have to change intake to airflow meter and probably front mount and piping to the twin td04s and custom exhaust . Wondering uf the changeover valve would be an issue on vf18/19 combo

The VF18/19 are almost equal turbos. The only difference is the exhaust housings P16/P18.

The exhaust flow being common to both turbos you would only need one wastegate.

If the exhaust was divorced ie Syms Parallel headers or front cross over pipe removed (CTS parallel twin turbo kit), then wastegate on the secondary would be required.

The exhaust housing from a VF17 which has a waste gate would be a direct swap to the VF19

ECV is very narrow and convoluted thus restricting exhaust flow to the secondary turbo.

Obtain another ECV and turn it into an up pipe (remove the valve flapper, port valve seat area and weld the arm) I have done this a few times when locating a new ECV post turbo.

got any pics of an ECV why wouldnt a wastegate on each turbo work?

this sounds quite hard to do haha

This is ridiculously simple

Lock it parallel, use single turbo ecu, remove all the tt bollocks, done

Look at it the same way as a legnum / galant tt setup, one afm, splits to 2 turbos, both join back up before intercooler

The mucking around with plugging hoses into each other is all just to fool the tt ecu. Use single ecu and problem gone. As said its got a lot of improvement to be made but regardless itd work, youll end up with a laggy weird sounding car still just as fast as a normal tt outright but with a massive dead spot until 3500

Like... basically just open up the exhaust valve, unscrew the plate bit from inside the intercooler valve (or just leave it open, does that by itself anyway), tee the secondary bov into the line from the main one (so just twin bovs now) and youre away. Its a bit half assed but to do it properly as you well know a normal sized single performs better on these motors, at least compared to the fcked up manifold arrangement the twin setup has with one wasteygate. If you removed the manifold crossover pipe and twin gates (either internal or externals) itd be more like a normal tt setup (like a gtr/gto/vr4)

I was going to do exactly this with twin vf27s but kinda chucked it in the why bother basket, would only be for internet #ididsomethingsemidifferent points really

Hell there was an rs legacy in a really early nzpc with this and a linkplus running it, has been done for years

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
