I could do my best to walk you through it/ look at logs etc. Is wideband inputted into ecu

It's not yet. I'm getting all my final parts this week and will be putting the RA together. So probably in two weeks time.

Could get dwight to do it 600 for a road tune if it goes swimmingly.

I'm booking in for D-Tech on Jan 23rd, but need to get motor run in by then.

Can run in on dyno. Most do. Not worth toasting an engine to save a few bucks before hitting the dyno. Its not hard to get fuel dialled pretty quick but without proper knock gear I wouldnt be too keen. Remember you need to load the engine on run in not nana it.

I do agree with evo wrx. It could be done but risky. We only run race engines in for 20-50km now and then fully tune them. This is on endurance, rally engines etc. With today's fine tolerances and machining along with the materials used that's all they need. If not run in by 20km they won't ever be run in.

Good news to CHCH based members. SAS has just bought a Dynapack hub dyno. it will take a couple of weeks to get setup but after that i'm hoping to help guys out that want to tune their car. I was going to suggest putting their car on the dyno and teaching/show how to tune and what affects what. There will be more information over the coming days/weeks.

And to ibpenguin, it could be knock but would definitely get it looked at. Dtech and PBMS i have heard good things about and not too far of a drive

This sounds good, can't wait to see my car on your dyno!

You dont need 100% dc to keep the gate shut.

ahh ok, i did not realize that. So its probably as good as it can be. i trust DTech have done a good job. just interested in gaining some knowledge on the topic

this is an interesting read; http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/tuning-electronic-engine-management/134360156-wtf-tuning-part-2-turbocharger-101-basic-boost-control.html

hey thoughts on carberry rom on stock ECU for v7 STI? any features/setup to ask for when taking in for dyno tune?

also is it worth it for me to have link ecu installed while at the tuner or other things i could better spend the cash on? carberry does speed density already which i heard can be an advantage when set up right (which link also does) but i believe carberry doesnt have closed loop boost, not sure what else there is..

Okay, so before people (Adam @kwi_fozze) jump in and say that replacing a factory ECU in v7+ is useless. Here's some important things.

Links have a much more in-depth fueling, boost, and timing tables.

Can do Closed loop

Significantly easier to tune (really can't deny that, it's 100% true)

Veeery easy to configure to setup change

Carberry has it's advantages, yes, no doubt.

Like not having to fork out a S*** load of cash for an ECU. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

However, in the case of where a car is, lets be honest @Batbaruman rather modified like your own, a Link will possibly come out ahead.

But once again, it might not actually be needed.

Yeah... I have to admit links are a shkt tonne easier to tune.

But the v7 ecu is free, and does about 95% of what a link does, without a 3.5k total outlay.

Fairly sure the latest carberry has closed loop boost, will need to check. But I use stand alone boost control because I cant be arsed with the boost maps (lol?)

Each have their disadvantages and advantages.

A good tuner will be able to set up carberry as its still speed density, but can run maf as well (also closed loop fueling)

It comes down to money. Can you squeeze 500hp from the stock ecu? Yes. Is it user friendly? Not really. Bit its a retunable ecu that you dont have to pay for.

There was someone pop up recently who was pretty scathing of the link he juat bought, same tuner as his carberry tune, got an extra 2 or 3 kW at the wheels, nothing else changed. Ended up with a 3.5k outlay for a more user friendly ecu but no increase in power (worth writing home about)

Talk to your tuner tho. Best place to start, have a yack with the poor sod who's setting you up

Get a link. I'm starting to sort on the wiring for mine now with the stock ecu staying for controlling non engine related stuff.

Stock ECU's are good when they work correctly, but you're relying on someone on the other side of the world to spend their unpaid free time getting it spot on which doesn't always happen. Mines a good example of this where the boost control wasn't addressed/indexed correctly so there has been no control of it and alot of wasted time and money chasing the cause of it.

Sure issues like that won't be present on a much more common ECU/vehicle like a V7 STi but food for thought

cheers guys, should have mentioned car is already running on carberry rom and was tuned on it by Gary Capper. Since last tune previous owner has changed turbo hence my need to retune and considering ECU upgrade while i'm at it. PBMS were offering a deal for CS members on the link when we tune with them so I'm super tempted on the Link just waiting to hear back about final $$$ impact :$

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
