Pod Filter

i'm looking into getting a pod filter for my WRX and seems that getting the pipe w/ AF sensor thing on it seems to be extremely pricey.

K&N kits are like $600. are there any cheaper ways to do this?

Apexi pod filter are cheaper... no need to replace the pipe with the AFM on it either.

Stick with the stock cold airbox. If you want pish noises get a 50/50 bov but wouldnt recommend either. Do a snorkelectomy tho.

Not a problem per se... but there is nothing wrong with the factory one... and it probably works better than a cheap aftermarket one.

Atmo venting BOV might make your run rough. The 50-50s dont seem to be to bad for it though.

Wanting induction noise? Pod filter

Wanting a simple performance boost? reflash the ecu.

Wanting BoV noise without shelling out for a loud skank whistle? Take out the intake resonator.

There are guys on here who will laugh at a pod filter then bolt a set of rally spec mudflaps to their daily driver street car, for me I get turbo cars over other fast options simply for the noise

Regarding your actual problem look locally for a pod filter adaptor to suit, www.subaruspeed.co.nz is a good place to look also. If you're just googling you'll end up with mostly U.S pricing and options, there are much cheaper alternatives in NZ. If it's a newer WRX (V7 onwards) the pipe shape & size is pretty generic

The one Loner linked to above is pretty good. Bolted right onto my v5 AFM and on the dyno showed it wasnt restrictive at all.

Although the wait from Fortyone was a bit long when I got mine.

Technically atmo ones are but havent heard of a fail yet.

Contaminated air must exit the exhaust pipe would prob be the tech explanation but "because its illegal" works for me. I run mine atmo but I arent gonna tell a cop to stick it up his arse if I get nailed as he would be correct to award a green sticker. I think going 120km in a 100km zone is perfectly safe but rules are rules.

picked up a BOV but for some reason its not loud in anyway what so ever. anyone know why that might be? plugged up the plumb back line, using the factory vacuum line. should i be running a different vacuum line?

Some of them are just quiet. If you want volume it needs a trumpet (or lots of boosty boosty)

I have seen your bov on trademe and if it's not a blitz then its a blitz replicate thats for sure because right down to the color that is the exact same.
