Dual Mass Flywheel - Skim or New?

Hi Team,

I have a 2000 Subaru B4 Twin Turbo that I bought less than 5 days ago. I was told that the clutch needed done, which was fine.

The girl I bought it off was quoted $1500 by a garage. I found some standard pull clutches for around $320 delivered.

Was pretty stocked cos I payed FA for the car.

Turns out I have hydraulic clutch and need a push type clutch. If I have push type, does that mean I will have the Dual Mass Flywheel also?

I know that when changing clutch you should skim for flywheel, can this be done with a DMF?

Cheers in advance...

I've just done the clutch in my 2000 GTB, which should be the same as your car (hopefully!), and I got an Exedy HD clutch kit which is grippy as a grippy thing, and got teh engine shop out the front of work to grind the flywheel as it was not a dual mass one.

I think the dual mass ones came on the non-turbo cars.

Hope that helps!:)

Got a call from BNT - they said that my car is a pull type clutch with SMF not DMF, even it it has hydraulic clutch.

Would this be right? I've had too many different answers. Can someone tell me how to check if it is pull type? Can I tell if it is DMF or SMF from looking in engine bay?

Cheers Team.

Mine is a pull type clutch with SMF.

I think you have to pull the intercooler off to see into the bellhousing through the wee inspection port, or you may be able to see in from under the car, I'm not 100% sure as everything was in bits on mine when I was looking!

The dual mass flywheel is very bulky, and has upstands around the perimeter of the clutch surface, a single mass looks like a "normal" flywheel and clutch, so is flat on the clutch surface.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
