Dedicated Subaru Race cars

There is more and more insane dedicated track Suby's throughout the country now.

Maybe it is time for a thread where we can gaze over some of these awesome setups hidden around the country. I have seen some of these amazing builds progress through this forum. Would be great to have all these great cars on one thread.

If you have a track car post it here so we can all gaze over the excess rubber, custom engines and crazy suspension setups.

I was lucky enough to score Funky's old wagon. This was pretty famous car through the forums and impressive lap times at Manfeild.

For those that didn't see this cars build, In a nut shell was a EJ22 with a garrett Gtx3076 making 300kw and weighing around 1260kg, and a excessively large rear wing!

The car is now off the road and strictly used on the track. The car has had a few more goodies thrown at it to slowly try and keep up with other cars progressing around it. (those Porsches cup cars are too quick!)

To try and get the power around the track suspension has been upgraded to MCA red's and the tyres have been changed from 255 semis to 235 slicks. Also a MAPDCCD was fitted to try and get my head around how DCCD can improve lap time!(Thanks Tony for the help)

At the front of the car the front geometry has been corrected using some LIC hubs with a huge amount of roll and bump steer correction, along with the later wheel bearings for longevity.

The rear of the car now is fitting with a Racefab chromoly rear subframe and a Cusco 1.5 way LSD.

This is where the car currently stands with a bit of work in progress, A new set of monster ported heads and cams are in the works a long with a move to run on E85. Hopefully get to around 350kw.

Still only a toy compared to some of the other cars I have seen around. but a bloody enjoyable toy that gets plenty of love!

Glad to see its being used and improved upon you got a bargain there. with e85 and depending on boost, you will hit the 350 kW mark. The Lic hubs are they 114 or 100 pcd?

Does a rally car count? It doesn't have any of the fancy things you talk about...?

I have been rallying this for the last couple of years:

This was at Targa South Island 2014:

Then Targa 2015 (only did the Regional 2 day event):

Car is very standard compared to Funkys old car. 6 Speed, Brembos, coilovers and a Link G4 basically. Good for some fun without too much cost. Rallying on a rather small budget means I only do a few events a year in it though, so rest of the time is spent racing a friends Mazda in the Mahindra Endurance series and racing at Manfield in my E30.

What kind of set up were you running when it blew up?

Stock fuel lines, Deutschworks pump, Spec C fuel pick up baffle, 440s. Dropped a valve into a piston, which wasn't pretty. But most likely caused due to leaning out when fuel surging through the esses'.

Loren - sure, depends what you want cagewise, most likely $2-3k for something fairly basic?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
