Error Code - not sure what it is? (16 long, 10 short)

I had the check engine light come on last night and I've read the code.

I get 16 long flashes and 10 short flashes. Does this mean 170 or 1610???

Does anyone know what this one is for?

You need an OBD II reader.

Got the code... P0546 Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor Circuit High B1S1

Bought the car with the up pipe cat out and i think this is why I'm throwing this error. Any idea how to stop it from coming up again?

Replace the sensor with a resistor?

It will do that if it's de-cat, the sensor is there solely to monitor that the cat is functioning correctly, hence the STI doesn't have one.

Or someone could probably disable that CEL with a laptop and the right software.

Did some research, yup, get a resistor. 1/2 watt 2.2k. Get a 1% one, code should be red red red brown.

Go into a Jaycar and say "hello, i would like a pack of 2200 ohm half-watt 1% resistors please"

The part code is RR0580. It's 70c for an 8-pack.

This is why i love this Forum. Went in yesterday and asked the same, EGT Sensor delete Complete in 5 minutes!
