New petrol at Mobil?

Recommended Posts

Stopped in at the Mobil by work today for some gas and noticed they have a new 98.

Instead of min 97.5 like it use to be, it now says it is min 98.

Is this a new thing or what? Don't normally stop in at Mobil for petrol...

Doesn't the current 97.5 offering use a part-ethanol blend? So this would be pure 98 RON, with no ethanol?

You're right, the 97.5 is about ten percent ethanol, means you have to be careful with it on older cars like most of ours as it can do things to seals. The new one presumably is fully petroleum based otherwise they would have a disclaimer.

I found the below on the Exxon website. This is for the Australian market but I wonder if they will bring the Special E10 94 into NZ as well?

Mobil’s new fuel products with an additive package:

Supreme+ 98 (98 Octane) is a premium grade petrol enhanced with a high quality multifunctional additive package for high performance vehicles. Supreme+ 98 is engineered for top performance and helps to improve engine responsiveness, engine efficiency, fuel economy and emissions.

Extra 95 (95 Octane) is a premium grade petrol that helps to improve engine responsiveness, fuel economy and emissions.

Special Unleaded 91 (91 Octane) that helps to improve fuel economy, emissions and provides corrosion protection.

Special E10 94 (94 Octane) contains up to 10% Ethanol that helps to improve fuel economy, emissions and provides corrosion protection.

Special Diesel is suitable for use in all diesel powered engines currently on the road in Australia. It provides a cleaner and faster fill and helps to improve fuel economy, emissions and provides corrosion protection

Where abouts was this bro? And how much? The BP markup from 91 to 98 is horrendous! As much as 40c per litre in a few stations!

Got nailed at BP the other day too. Was half way through the fill when I notices the price. 42c more for 98. WTF.

Same here. Thats how i discovered the new Mobil 98. Started putting gas in at the BP and noticed it was $2.01 for 98 so next time i drove 200m down the road and found Mobil was charging only $1.83!!

On another note, and hope this isn't derailing the thread. With all my tuning woes, i will be most likely getting a retune or a refund tomorrow at Torque Performance, rekon i should run Gull E10, This new Mobil, or BP 98?

Go for whatever is most common in the areas you visit.

So in other words they got a good deal on MMT . Mind you the reason everything went from 96 to 95 was the amount of mmt they were allowed to put in it .

Gotta remember a lot of additives they put in fuel is purly something they can get away with putting in that costs less than petrol itself

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
