VF22 cant reach to 20psi/laggy

hey guys use to run a vf28 spool very quick full boost comes around 3.5k-3.8k

recently did some upgrades, split fuel rails, vf22 and 38mm turbosmart wastegate 12 or 14 psi spring cant remember(unplum)

currently running hks evc boost controller, when i set the boost controller to 14 psi full boost comes on slow about 4.5krpm and the wastegate opens and sounds nice and sharp but if i crank it on to 20psi the turbo seems to struggle to reach to 20psi only can reach upto 16-17psi, wastegate doesnt open until 6-7krpm and once it opens sounds bad like hissing and not smooth

have supporting mods, front mount, semi tune headers, 3" downpipe to exhaust, silicone intake duct and a perfect power smt8-t piggyback ecu.

dont know why the turbo so laggy and cant run 20psi

please help cheers.

Yeap spin free. No play etc, yeah I have a feeling is ecu or the boost controller set up is wrong. Currently boost solenoid and duty pressure solenoid vacuum lines not connected,

But that wouldn't affect it? Since I'm running 3 port boost controller

I think I have the same problem, as in when it hits boost it's not smooth/makes a hissing noise, also running a vf22. I'm running a link g4, 3 port boost solenoid. ATM I think the turbo is stuffed so just looking for a replacement VF22.

Running a vf22 at 20 psi is just asking for trouble I wouldn't Wana take it any more passed 18 the compressor blades are weak. Also running a external wastegate with anything vf is total wanker factor it's most likely your issue ie to much exhaust gasses air bypassing the turbo.. the gate is probably opening and shutting opening and shutting tryin to hit the rediculous target boost pressure which would explain the surging or pulsing...

i agree a external is abit overkill. But im running a 40mm compgate (plumbed) with my vf30 and im hitting 21.5psi at 3500 and holding that till about 6500 and it slowly drops off from their. no issues at all when its unplumbed either... the issue to me sounds like 1) the computer isnt tuned for the turbo. 2) poor boost control setup. 3) poor mounting of the wastegate....

Edit: what happens if you unplug the EBC and run spring pressure only?

Mines gone ok at 20psi for quite some time now.

People think there the bees knees because its simple and bolt on for a gc8 with no stuffing about and they fit right in with most peoples fairly stock setups. They are a simple answer to slightly more power without needing to upgrade much around it.

the greatest flow is at 2.6 pr . And theres plenty of map at 2.4 pr 19-20 psi . Assuming a real airfilter and a quality intetcooler that isnt chewing 5 psi I fail to see your problem

Hes talking about the strength of the comp wheel not what the map says. They are weaker in the hub and shed blades. Not every one of them does it but its common enough for people to know about it.

No leaks from wastegate outlet, cars been throwing 44 45 CEL. it comes on then goes off, once it's on it boost cuts me. But once it's off its boost fine. Duty pressure solenoid and boost solenoid loom connect up but not vacuum's.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
