Insurance for modified cars

i've had a chat with Classic Cover will be switching over to them shortly pending paperwork.

Declared every single mod i know of in car, they asked for pics which i provided. Insured with full comprehensive cover for a pretty decent amount too and with only $500 excess my premium is $713 a year including roadside assist.. thats  $59 a month, exactly half of what i pay to AA atm. i took the slightly more expensive cover which allows for 15,000 km/yr mileage also as the standard is only 5,000km.

with AA they would only cover me up to 11k according to them thats the value of my car, they had a higher excess and the monthly fee was $119 + $89/yr for their roadside thing.. thats the discounted price as we have 3 other cars, my bike and home & contents insurance. pretty massive difference in price going to an insurer who specialises in high risk business.

I'm with Classic Cover for my turbo Honda. Full Cover and detailed every mod and is only $380 a year and $500 premium, but mines slightly cheaper due to max mileage of 8,000kms per year and with it being a 1989 vehicle is regarded as " Classic "

I might have to give them a call, Need to sort insurance for the rally car, and the FTO, both of which most companies won't touch...

My only worry with Classic Cover is that i'm under 25, but will see what they say tomorrow I guess.

So turns out, they won't insure a rally car or the FTO for anybody under 25...

Any suggestions of other companies? Previously had the FTO with NAC, but that was a bit over 1K /year...

From motocross a couple of weeks ago to playing in rally cars this weekend. Here's some in car footage from the first event out in the FTO as a 4wd. Amazing having decent traction. Thanks Dad for the enthusiasm and effort putting it together. Didn't get struck with any teething troubles first time out and even managed to be on pace and win the day! Can't ask for much more than that. Hopefully the rest of The Engine Room Sprint Series goes this well for us.

Awesome!
I've been keeping an eye on him with his 6A13 engine, as I was going to do the same, but didn't realise that he's AWD now!

I should really have a chat to him one day.

Do you know of any footage of it running? Can't access that one :(

@shadywrx car looks amazing dude! And nice numbers! Curious as to know how much you pay for insurance after stating all your mods? I haven't stated mine, in fear of a massive hike in costs :|

i recently switched to classic cover. full comprehensive with road side assistance. every single mod declared, with $500 excess pay only $720 for 12 months ($60/month).. cheaper than what i paid for my n/a toyota with AA and it's covered for a decent sum too. insurance companies will screw you for undeclared mods no matter how minor you think they might be so you're best to dont risk it... otherwise you just paying for insurance thats gonna be most likely useless when you need it. i found out about classic cover via an insurance thread here few others signed up with them from forums. there are other similarly priced options too, many out there better than the usual aa / state / ami etc.

May as well cancel your insurance policy and just #YOLO it then, do you think if you stack it the insurance assessor isn't going to notice your adjusties and immediately void your insurance?

whoa @Batbaruman how the heck did you manage that deal with AA man ?! I am with them and they are shafting me with a rod :$ no under 25 drivers, clean license, all mods declared, and made it $1000 access to bring the premiums down and still paying $1100 for 12months and that is with no extras at all full cover...

Wow, i thought you just wouldn't be covered for the mods that you've installed. Well that's what i understood anyway. At the time it was only coilovers and exhaust. Probably worth a phone call to insurance now! i Pay like $750 a year and $300 excess. Only downside is they pay on the current value of car, not insured value

pls see this thread for further insurance stuff, mod may wish to move these posts as its nothing to do with dyno.  well worth investing in the time to make sure your insurance is valid and declaring everything. the consequences just aint worth it, switch to a company that deals with higher risk modified vehicles such as ours get quotes from the ones in thread below and make your choice based on what is best for you. for me, classic cover was cheapest and also offered the best level of cover for my needs... somehow they also managed to insure my car for the highest agreed price value (which i understand i wont necessarily get, but higher cover for low premium is better than lower cover elsewhere).

Can anyone recommend a good company that will insure <25 year olds?
Used to be with NAC, but got sick of paying $100 a month for insurance on a lightly modified FTO, yet I could get insurance cheaper for my RS RA.

Need to insure the FTO, and the Rally car.
Tried Classic cover, but they won't insure the either due to my age :/

Maaaaaaan called insurance today (Lumely) and declared mods

Insured at market value $24k (with mods)

Premiums went up from $75 to $80 (mint)

Theft excess went from $2000 to 25% of value - $6000 (what the crap!?)

Normal excess went from $300 to $550 (not a deal breaker but still not ideal)

No drivers under 25 and must name new drivers now.

For the 2003 WRX STI I stated these mods:

Aftermarket wheels $2000

Aftermarket suspension $1500

Exhaust system $1000

Whiteline sway bar $300

Whiteline end links $350

Heavy duty clutch $1000

Fuel pump $200

Front lip $300

Performance tune $1200

All in all not too bad except for the theft insurance!

Bro $6k theft excess, your car is parked in garage that's BS, unacceptable tbh. Did you ask quotes from other companies mentiones on this thread? You're over 25 right ?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
