Link G4+ onboard knock setup

6 posts in this topic

Anyone played with the onboard knock? Would like a little guidance rather than guessing with no idea. A copy of a tune would be lovely so i can peruse knock tables.

You will need audible knock detection gear to set this up safely

Also I would recommend using a dyno, this will allow you to safely load the car up and  induce knock at low loads

Start at wastegate pressure only.

Once you have setup the knock threshold/settings correctly in PC link you will need to log ( and confirm via audible knock detection that knock is occurring) this will then give you a knock threshold number in the logging side of PC link

You can then quickly build your 3D table

The post by DavidV of the Link forums has alot of excellent info in it for you!

Datalog the S*** out of your engine and it will give a pretty good profile of your baseline noise when the engine is known to not be knocking. The Link knock system is based on filtered signal amplitude and rpm, so if you have a baseline noise profile across the rpm range then anything spiking above that is considered knock and you can do something about it like retard timing, drop boost etc. Whether it is knock or not is another question - sometimes it is, sometimes it isnt and the ECU cant tell the difference. Just have to know your engine noise levels well enough to make a decision on what to do.

Being that the link g4+ pretty much has an onboard knock box one would think you could plug headphones into the laptop for audio.

Sounds feasible, I personally haven't tried this approach.

Keep us informed with your findings

Doesnt look to be an option. Remembered seeing the knock audio and thought it mightve been related.

Hiya, would anyone in/near Wellington have a spare passenger floor mat for a 2006 Legacy b4? I’ve looked at a few aftermarket options but I’d like to find an original. Cheers!
