8-4bolt conversion starter motor bolt hole tap

Sooooo, I've got a 6 speed, and a CDB from a version 2 STi.

In short, I need to tap the lower starter motor bolt hole, so I can have a bolt in there to actually secure the starter motor.

Does anyone know the size so I can get it done and actually get my motor in the car.

Will create guide once done.

Any grade 8 bolt will do.. at a guess it will be m10x1.25 or m12x1.25

You can get a thread file from supercheap for like $10, super handy things to have, they have a wee gauge thing so you can see what pitch a tread is, you can also get like a fold out gauge (like a feeler gauges style thing) that reads thread pitch

Once you have it you'll wonder why you didn't get one sooner haha

Rightyo, so had a couple hold ups but managed to get some work done today.

The short and curleys of it is this.

It's not m12x1.25.  after threading the hole there's very very minimal thread.  so if a bolt is in there, once tight, it'll likely just strip the thread out.

Soooo, what I'll be doing tomorrow is drilling the hole out with a 13mm bit, then tap it using m14x1.25

I'm genuinely unsure if this is due to maybe casting differences in the bellhousings but I believe this to be the unlikely cause.

Probably a bit overkill to use a m14 bolt size but heck, if I've learnt one thing, it's that half arsed sh#t comes back to bite you sooner rather than later.

Helicoil is an option too... and I don't know what that thing linked in SCA is but you might want to invest in a proper thread tap.

Yup, helicoil is definitely an option. I've not looked at that sca link yet.

We've got a proper thread tap tool kit so that's all good :)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
