Auckland Track Days

Do we have any hook ups for track days in Auckland? Hampton Downs or Puke?

Pretty gutted i cant make the CS birthday thing at Taupo. As it goes, i have a wedding down in Wellinton that weekend!

Would be keen as to suss some Auckland track days if anyone is keen. Hapton Downs is like $150 per day plus a yearly fee of $50 + Acc fee of $25. Pretty dam expensive!

There's Uncles Club at Hampton http://unclesclub.co.nz/event-info/ or NZ Track Day at Pukekohe https://www.facebook.com/pg/NZtrackday/events/?ref=page_internal

or there is the Open Test days at Pukekohe as well https://www.pukekohepark.co.nz/book/6271vS4TsQYhIcpuizRQyhl1/ this is the one i did when i had my RA. I would recommend Puke if you've never done a track day before. Good track to learn on.

Definitely noticed the prices going up the last couple of years too.

Will be keen to join if we can get a group together.......will be in my Honda though

I'm always adding Track day "events" as I see them to the CS FB Page, smash the subscribe button to get notifications when they are added in "your area"

https://www.facebook.com/ClubSubNZ/events/

eg Nek week is

these aren't the "only" track days up in your area : just the ones I've seen & tought relevant to 'our club' and audience

there is usually at least one a month per track if you keep track of the right pages / clubs & groups, kinda frustrating more dont get posted in here as you're not spoilt for choice tbh

Tracks dont kill cars, drivers do.

make sure the oil is full, like properly full and run an oil pressure gauge. If you dont have slicks chances are you cant even get around quick enough for oil starvation to be an issue. All the horror stories are over dramatized, no reason to avoid an awesome track.

Thanks @Joker

Yeah i would love to drive my car around Hampton. Got to drive a Murcielago there last year as a present from the wifey and it was amazing (even though they dont let you get to its full speed potential).

Have the standard oil temp, oil pressure and boost gauges in my car so should be sweet.

Pretty keen to go to the 6th Feb track day in Puke. Anyone else keen?

dunno if this is specific to the hsv form or not but its all a quick google would show me, surprised they don't have the specific info on the pukekohe circuit page

source : http://www.hsvc.co.nz/forms/PUKEKOHE PLAY DAY.pdf

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • It is compulsory for all drivers and passengers to wear covered shoes, long sleeved clothing (no shorts or tee shirts allowed), helmet and neck brace as a minimum standard (approved race suits or 100% cotton overalls, gloves and other safety apparel are optional)
  • Helmets and neck braces will be available for hire at the track on the day of  the event for any driver or passenger that does not have them
  • Seat belts MUST be worn by the occupants of all vehicles while on the circuit
  • All participants must exercise due care at all times and not act in a reckless or dangerous manner
  • An ambulance and fire extinguishers will be on site as part of the Circuit and Facilities Hire Agreement

Playday on track normally specify 100% Cotton overalls and a Helmet. No Passengers unless caged.

I havent been to Puke but I would probably come out for a few laps if there was a bit of a CS presence at an event. I have done plenty of days elsewhere so happy to help anyone out on the day who might need it.

i have done hampton with the subi before just the first and last corner you need to take it easy which is a bit of a shame but still alot of fun though! the guy at the track did mention that on street tires it isnt that bad but yeah who would want to take that risk....you can always over fill the oil a bit as well for the track and dump it afterwards

I just did the last corner as a sharp V instead of hugging the inside corner, means youre only on high load for a brief time as you turn sharp instead of extended G forces hugging the corner. This was on decent road tires in my STI, RE11's.

I think most trackdays at hamptons are now on the dumb small track anyway arent they?

Yep..Square the corners off to avoid building centrifugal forces..

Just like the motoX guys do..

Back corner is kind of the same at Taupo from memory. Once Tony told me that way back in the day it cleaned up my entire lap, got it off my mind I guess.

Or invest in a baffled sump if you're running very sticky tyres...

the killer is the long sweeping corners where the oil pick up gets starved

otherwise just drive slow ;)

Yeah, I got a quote for a dry sump, and decided that a baffled sump is far more prudent for the wallet in the short term! :o I'm keen to run "Hamster Downs" with you guys once my car gets out onto the road.

Damn you, auto correct! "Baffled dump"- stop judging my car

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
