Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

thought id ask on here and see what people would recommend for brake rotors and pads for a 2004 subaru legacy 3.0R

yes its and auto/tip-tronic but i still like driving it and going for a nice/spirit drive. i do alot of trips to napier/hastings and i quite like the back roads to there. nice windy roads.

what would the club members recommend?

DBA rotors and Project mu pads should be a good setup also

Don't know if people know Project mu pads here, but I find that they are awesome value for money.

NS400 for road driving or HC800 for track driving or if you don't mind some minor squealing.

If it's just for spirited drive, I'm not sure that vented rotors are needed. Not an expert on legacys though

I would say that the most important is getting good pads that are not going to fade.

IIRC, the project mu pads are heated to extract the gases that create fading.

vented rotors - where the internal is not solid - are good !

they dissipate heat much better than a solid rotor.

they will be factory fitted on your legacy.

slotted rotors - which have slots cut into the surface - are of dubious benefit.

as rotors are an expendable, there really is no need to buy all the flash brand name stuff.

pop into your local repco or bnt and get some twr (or other reputable brand) oem replacements.

add good pads and good fluid and you should have enough stopping power for road driving.

Didn't mean slotted or cross drilled

As @newsuba has pointed out

Oh, sure !

I thought that you were talking about slotted rotors, my bad. Agreed with newsuba, the benefit is dubious or maybe there is one for very specific applications.

Totally forgot that non vented rotors even existed, all my last cars had vented rotors :P

Just call Dave from Braketech. You would be looking at $460 shipped to you for front rotors and pads. That's genuine brembo rotors and fast road/occasional track day pad. Perfect for fun twisty roads. The front rotors should be 316x30 if it a legacy not outback

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
