Where do you guys buy replacements around here? I'm trying to talk my wife into just letting me get coil overs but if that falls through where is a good place to get replacements? The ass end clunking over bumps is getting pretty agitating.

DONT BIFF EM!!!!!!!!!!!

its fixable, and is infact a common fault.

genuine sti kyb shocks are farking horrendous to buy new, and nothing aftermarket comes close to how the v7 sti struts feel.

pull em out, strip em down, clean em, re-grease and reassemble. easy job. follow the link:

Make sure you scoop all the old crud out first

Depending how bad yours are the fix might not last that long, mine lasted about 10000km before they started sticking/knocking again.

had a set absolutely shagged, had to regrease every 10k as well.

but, regreasing every 10,000kms is a small price next to the hassle of matching the shock performance.

if i had to replace em, i'd go with kyb agx shocks out of the usa (cant buy em here) factory replacement dampener adjustable strut, at about $400 a corner plus shipping.

also, they dont need certing like adjustable do.

better than the standard shock, and it has dampener adjustment so a good shock for really pushing hard.

kyb excel-g are cheaper, but a lot more pliant than the sti ones (lots more body roll, but a more comfortable ride)

cert is closer to the $600 mark nowdays unfortunately....

Wait, 600 bucks to get coil overs certed? WhAt the hell is getting something certed? Do you have to get any other modifications certified? I have a lot to learn about modifying cars in New Zealand.

My next question is where do you get pads/rotors for brembos. I don't imagine supercheap or repco having suitable replacements.

You can get the pads/rotors from BNT but they are aftermarket ones, you can get genuine ones from subaru but you pay a lot for them

best option there. make sure they are spotless inside, if you have the time. i find a kerosene dip and dry works a treat. if lowering it, chop the smallest 2 ridges off your bump stops (basically cut em in half) and run the wider lower sections. be generous with the new grease, you want to use castrol LMX or whatever the replacement is, its some horrid blue stuff. having plenty of rags helps too

Yeah, they're soaking in penetrating oil right now. I'm running to the store to get some grease today, I was planning on using lithium grease, like cv grease. Cars already lowered and new struts don't have springs or top hats so yeah if the previous owner did chop the bump stops I plan on doing it.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
