Gen 4, What to look out for

Morning all, Im looking into upgrading from my BH Legacy to either a BL or BP, other than the obvious of one being a wagon and one being a sedan are there any differences between them? and what should i look out for when I go to view and test drive? Ideally looking for a 3.0 6MT

I would stay with the wagon. 

Good luck with the search for a manual car, most of the ones I looked at were auto, the only manual one had a dodgy gearbox.

Apart from that I love my BP outback (Just a slightly jacked up legacy), I too had a BH before hand and its a much nicer overall.

I loved my BP legacy, would have kept it if it was a manual. 

 

Manual conversions arent a thing without a standalone ecu..

That looks like a real tidy example. Taste full mods but stock motor. The six speed plus the 3L 6 cylinder would be great. My dad keeps looking at one, I'd love to test drive haha. The newer ones have Si drive, it works nice in an sti but not necessary.

Things to be mindful of with BL/BP's; they wear lower control arm bushes (front), and wheel bearings can be a common and costly fault. For the 3.0L's the front idler pulley bearings (x2) can wear out, depends what stage you catch it out on as to what damage you're up for.

Solid cars otherwise, really quite a step up from a BE/BH for sure! 3.0L with the 6MT is a fantastic car!

The centre diff in the 6mt legacy fail early. Bank on a new one. Got to test them after a drive in tight circles
