Turbo Flutter

Recommended Posts

that what you want? i have some myself not sure why (just started after changing from top mount to front mount, have an atmospheric BOV) during lower RPMs, thought it sounded pretty cool but after a while i just stopped hearing it altogether, just something that gets filtered out along with the many other noises car makes haha. wouldn't recommend you go out of your way to do it , but below is how it's intentionally caused... disclaimer : not sure on negative effects of this

how to in a subaru

I think getting an HKS SSQV bov would be a good idea, never tried the abovementioned methods.

I like it too but then again it would remind me of a Nissan everytime it goes off

Since this post got resurrected :D. I have an HKS SSQV BOV in my car atm and mine does make that STUTUTUTU noise at partial throttle below 3800RPM. Not a Nissan type which goes on for longer but sounds similarly the same but at a shorter rate and full boost is the usual PSHHHHH

Not sure why you'd want a compressor surge either; it's not good for your turbo so I've heard.

I've deleted my BOV, left it on there from the intake side but it is disconnected from the compressor-ic side. Come to think of it, I think I'm  venting to atmosphere which sounds nice but won't pass WOF. will try clamping small vacuum hose to bov and turning it 180deg to see if that flutters :)

Cometely deleted bov, blocked up all hoses and no sutututu. The internet says it's more likely to work on FMIC due to more piping and air in system, but I will try having a cold air intake complete with aluminum piping and maybe increasing the diameter of the other sides piping. All aluminum of course which supposedly reverberates better.

Factory airbox? That probably is silencing that compressor surge.. On my old WRX I had a cold airbox with a mushy, got me some sweet sweet stututut.

More details please :) sounds like what I'm after. I have an old pod filter connecting to maf then alloy intake and I think rubber hose connector. Was your cold air box aluminium? Did you use factory bov?

Nice!! I won't show you mine lol but I've got compressor surge Now. I had to take off an elbow which was letting out any boost above a certain pressure and replace it with a 90deg rad hose. Tightened it all up and et voila. Jumped off motorway to be safe but ride home if felt very good and boost built. Think I got it to about 5000rpm with no hassles. Everything has to be super tight or else the air will escape through any way it can find.

When I was fiddling with the setting on my GTB & GFB BOV managed to get a bit of this

Funny old fad eh, like calling Adjustable Suspension "Coilovers" or Juddy's, one is right & the others arent even in the same feild

(Oem Subaru Suspension IS Coilover arrangement in most cases)

Just for a bit of sound. I am aware of the negatives of having air go back and spin the turbo, but I will eventually have a bov that sounds similar like a hks ssqv for peace of mind. Then again it is a cheap old gf8 with a td04 which can easily be replaced.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
