Front end knock?

So ever since I got my GTB it's had a knock in the left front, dealer agreed to remedy it. But it's taken a few weeks to get him to get around to it. Originally he booked me in at mag n turbo and they said sway bar mounts are worn. Didn't state bushes or links. Come to today I took it to him and he said oh it's just rear mount bush, and sent me to repco to buy them and me install, he should have sorted it but it gave me the excuse to hey nolathane instead of the shitty rubber ones.

So I got a full set and installed them. Love and behold the front knock is there.

Only on uneven, bumpy or rough roads can it be heard, doesn't clunk over bumps.

Any ideas what it could be and what to check? Possibly top hat gone?

Need more details of car.

Common issues are worn shocks, worn sway bar things, underbody plastics not fixed properly. I mean it could be even an exhaust leak. Hard to diagnose over the web, but search subaru knocking shocks on here or youtube to get an idea of that.

Nothing wrong with rubber bushes if they're not damaged. Sounds like they're clueless. What area are you in? There are some good mechanics on here who you can go check out.

99 GTB. Noise is from what I can tell from left. Im located in Blenheim so not much around here.

I mean the cheap nasty rubber that's the cheapest of cheap.

Suppose my only next step is to take into a shop, which is tricky because I live out of town.

Check the sway bar link on the front left side. If the link looks like a black plastic dog bone the chances are it's worn especially if they are still original
I'll check that tomorrow, just check for play? It also looks like this. 5dab608c59947d653ca67c9bd190e804.jpg

With the causes talked about seems like it's your shocks that's worn. I've experienced where you drive over on a bumpy more of uneven road it would knock even several times but only at slow speed never at moderate speed?

Rebuilt the suspension and fixed the problem for me.

Yep that's what it does mate. Although it can be heard at high speed too

Although not as bad as at low speed. So it will need rebuild it replacement? It's covered by the dealer so just wondering what options will be

I'm not 100% sure if it would be your shocks but your causes are very similar to what I've experienced. It never happened in high speeds for me only in low speeds when I enter my long driveway which is uneven and bumpy as well. Mine was discovered during WOF stages simply by jacking one side of the wheel in my case Left/Front and shaking the wheel at 12 - 6 hand position.

So the shop suspects the top hat bearings are gone? Said sway bar link didn't have much play at all

Unusual for the bearings to fail and knock..

The bearing operates through a limited range of movement and is quite robust..

Don't know..

What was the result ?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
