STi Towbar

Recommended Posts

I've got a 2016 STi, which I want to be able to cart around a bike with. Been looking a bit and have found an awesome removable one in the states, was wondering if anyone knew of something similar available in NZ? Here's the one I've found, https://torkliftcentral.com/2015-2017-subaru-wrx-wrx-sti-ecohitch-invisi

Have you checked with Subaru NZ? The one we got with the outback is removable and you can’t see any of it when the the tongue has been removed. Wasn’t the cheapest removable one but looks better than ones we have seen from other companies

There's always the option to go custom made, not the cheapest tho. I got a custom made one from designer bars in Hamilton, mainly because the car was lowered and the trailer I tow is a tandem with no suspension so the tow ball needs to be at a specific height. all the tow bars they do are customised so that the tow ball sits at the right height even if the car isn't lowered.

Wingers said there isn't one they do for the STi (no option to add one when buying unfortunately).

I found an accessories price list from Subaru and there's none on that either. Roof racks is the other option I'm considering, they have those on the price list!

Wat.

This is entirely not the case.

Hmm, just done some quick google research and it appears you're right. I was under the impression every towbar had to be tested and certified for the vehicle it was being fitted to. How do you know what the towing capacity of your home-made or one-off towbar is? What grade of bolts to use?

I thought it was optional. You could adhere to a set standard if you wish and market it as such or sell it as is not meeting any standard.

Sounded pretty stupid to me.

So you bodge a bar up to the back of your Suzuki Swift, hook up your 8m boat, then start pointing fingers at everyone else when it breaks free at the first corner, taking out the hot mumsie who's walking the dog and pushing a pram.

There are only two laws with regards to private vehicles towing (I know of).

Your driver license class.

Being able to stop from 30 km/h within 7m.

I have researched this reasonably thoroughly, and this is quite a ridiculous statement.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
