Exiga Transmisson fault

Hi All,

I think I experienced a transmission warning today in my Wife's 2008 Exiga Turbo, it flashed the A/T Oil temp light and the traction control

and ABS lights came on permanently. Was fine after a terminal change but it has me worried.

What is the easiest way to read the fault codes especially the trans and engine computer? I have tried FreeSSM and a tactrix cable that use to work on my 01 B4 many years ago

but it doesn't seem to want to play ball with the Exiga.

Some advise would be great or If someone has a scanner that will work I'd gladly pay them for their time.

I am located in Botany Downs, Auckland.

Thanks

Regards

Antony

Hi,

So I had better luck today, amazing what a good nights sleep can do.

Fault codes P1710 - Torque converter turbine 2 speed signal circuit malfunction

Fault codes P0761 - Shift solenoid C - Malfunction

Any Subaru techs on here with trans experience?

Cheers

What transmission does it have...

auto, but CVT, 4 speed etc?

Mrt do a few videos on the autos.

4 speed, looks like solenoid so aren't hard to get too like some brands

CVT seems to be known to be weak and there are some modifications to help handle the power.

ring a few transmission shops, I've been lucky in the past and they know the fault as its common and had a cheapish fix. You always end up paying for a fluid change and they always charge heaps for the fluid.

an hour calling shops (lots in Auckland) can save you a lot of money and time.

but limit the driving as much as you can, auto are always weak and can die really fast once they get a fault. That or the repair costs go way up.

download the service manuals if you can find one for your transmission. They have plenty of tests and troubleshooting guides in them (well the mitsi ones always did)

In theory the solenoid failure could cause the speed sensor out or range and heat if it held gear too long or allowed oil to travel into two places at once. Usually only one thing fails at once and causes the rest (look at the oil in loom topics).

Hi,

I believe it's a 5 speed unit, code is TG5D8CBJAA. I'm hoping the solenoid fault is the main issue as yesterday and today it has failed to engage what feels like 2nd gear

a few times when re-applying throttle after coasting i.e. slowing but not stopping at a giveway sign. I'll ring Harold at Trans solutions tomorrow and see if he's has any advice.

From reading a bit of stuff on the USA forums, if the speed sensor fault is a genuine issue it's likely a new valve body as it can't be replaced individually..... Fun times!!!

We've had Subaru's for over 10 years now and this is the first time we've had a niggly issue, they've been super good for us.

Hi Antony,

I have had the same thing happen to me this morning with my Exiga GT 2009. It is currently in SubLab in Whangarei for a check and I am sat crossing my fingers for good news.....

Is your issue fixed now and what was it?

Thanks,

Chris

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
