Spark Plug Replacements

Morning all

 

On the run run up to my tune I thought it would be prudent to change my spark plugs as I’m sure they haven’t been replaced for a while.

 

It’s my understanding that they’re a plait if a pain in the arse to swap out. Is it easier to get a garage to do so or are they still very much doable from home? 

 

Im a big believer in doing things myself were I can!

Only difference is you’ll have the secondary airpump which has a tube that runs along where you need to get access for the battery side plugs making them even more awkward than normal. Doable though. I did mine back when I still had the airpump in place

Usually not too bad, just can be a little tricky to find the perfect sized extension  or combination of extensions to fit in the tight gap.

One of the garages can probably get them overnight from repco in queenstown or you could get them from partsouq.com but it will take like 6-7 days to arrive

Would I be right in thinking I would need the ILFR6B plugs for my 07 LGTB @Andy_Mac ?

Yep that’s right. You’ll need a gapping tool aswell as they aren’t necessarily gapped correctly out of the box. Handy to have one in general if you don’t already. Think I picked mine up in a bargain bin at Repco for 10 odd bucks.

No, you'll crack the coating off the ground terminal. Always buy the correct plugs specified for your engine.

Even being the correct ones, with the couple of sets i’ve had they haven’t been bang on identical. Surely one extremely light tap isn’t going to do any noticeable damage.

 

I’d be intrigued to see a set come out after x many thousand km after being lightly gapped to see if they’re looking any different to a set that wasn’t touched.

i have have a feeler tool for my motocross bike that I could use, although I’m best not to gap them I see  

 

I’ll get them ordered today!
