07 3.0r 5ET - Jerk when going into 5th at low revs

Hi all,

 

I've just got a used 3.0r Legacy and the dealer changed the transmission fluid on import. I never drove it before the service, but it jerks when it goes into 5th, which is particularly evident at low revs at around 50-60kph. 

 

At higher revs it doesn't seem to have the problem.

 

It's done 58k, so hardly overworked.

 

Does anyone have any idea, could it be the torque converter?

Here's a list of fixes that Armstrong's in Wellington say are available to my BLE 5EAT. 

 

When using steering wheel gear change switch// prevents jumping gears (eg. Jumping from 3rd to 5th without going into 4th perhaps)// Prevent rough gear change from 1st to 2nd during low speed driving while in 'D' mode (says D range) // Prevent vehicle jolting when moving gear selector from N to D // Prevent rough gear change when in 'sports mode', vehicle travelling between 30 and 40km/h and changing from 3rd to 2nd// interlock fail change 2 ???(P1799) // Manual mode 'auto upshift' extra (extra part?) // Change shift pattern when water temperature cold // When decelerating, after reaching around 40km/h prevents rough gear changes from 4th to 3rd

 

The software costs $60.00 + GST per file.

Labour - $57.50 + GST per file.

Hmm, I had my PAK file updated and I think I still get this (though it's my wife's car now so can't really remember!)...though I keep getting rear wheel speed sensor code, which apparently can cause rough shifting.

I'm waiting to see what happens with the airbag recall first, waiting for my 2nd letter, may as well get it all done in 1 visit. 

I get a 2nd to 3rd hang when cold that i want to get rid of.

Make sure the dealer is "updating the PAK file"  and not just resetting the TCU. Anybody can reset the TCU with a $15 VAG-COM cable,whereas only dealers can update the software.

 

Definitely reset the TCU first and see if that helps.

Good tip, I'm on trademe looking for a vag com adapter, most say they don't work with Windows 10, is that true and I need Windows 7 32bit?

nah mate my generic vag-com cable works with FreeSSM and RomRaider work on Windows 10 - if it doesn't work install 32-bit java and check the cable drivers are installed under device manager.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
