Where's the euro thread ?

Recommended Posts

Yay another Euro!!

Dude those things are track weapons! also, nice one getting the recaro sportster seats and not the "normal" Recaros.

As much as I love my 5 Cylinder noise I would have got one of these if it was in the budget at the time.

hi sean,

renaultsport cars have quite a following in the uk and aus.

renault calls the paint liquid yellow - was a $1000 option in aus. but a no-cost paint option in nz.

subaru sonic yellow like my old sti was a flat, dull yellow.

this is bright and sparkly

let the first or second owner take the hit  :D

high performance euros like audi rs, merc amg - all seem to depreciate more heavily than the lesser models.

the only exception are the real bmw m-cars, which still depreciate but not as savagely as something with RS or AMG on the badge.

This kinda puts me off these cars.. I reckon you need to find that sweet spot for age/depreciation ratio, obviously the biggest drop happens within the first two years then slows down. Based on the latest news from my insurance I am on the market for a replacement. Then these ever growing Auckland petrol prices...

the old sq5 diesel is a rocket !

jucs will be petrol.

thanks to dieselgate new ones are petrol.

or go nuts and pickup a merc ml63 amg, looked at some nz new ones for under $30k

the evoque is still very stylish.

not bad to drive but the porsche macan rewrote the small-medium suv handling rules.

Some of my thoughts,

Any of the VAG 3.0L TDI engines are a wall of torque, even more so tuned. Last gen Q7 could be an option, but they're pretty lacking nowadays. New model is rather nice, SQ7 is another level...
B8 A4 S4 wagon? C7 A6?

X3 We've an X3 35i at work lately, seemed nicely kitted out in similar trim to your old 535 wagon, similar age too. Might be an option. Diesels here seem alright too.
X5 M50D anyone? Tri-turbo goodness?

Evoque are refined inside but I found the 4 banger a little highly strung, I favour the smoothness and torque of a 6 cylinder specially with diesel, but that's just me...

Huuuuuge and expensive. SQ5 seems ok but I do not like their front end...

Have watched a ton of videos and reviews on these... apparently B8 S4 are pretty good. C7 S6 is not too bad either :D

X3 35i

I was tossing between one of those and 535i back then. Series 5 is much more luxurious and refined. Better seats, better dash and centre console plus, more tech etc.

Yes please! Different price league though. But those are beasts...

or 550D Touring, I'd take one of those but there's none.

which diesel ?

the other day i was driving a bmw 120d with 265, 000km that still felt tight and punchy.

still have a lot of research to do to be honest, i feel super keen on the 335d as it's based on a pretty awesome chassis and power curves do look alright, i figure long term id just wanna sort with adjustable suspension / lsd and it should be sweet? bit expensive though, will keep doing lot of research including checking out the 120d you mentioned.

A friend of mine had the same model Megane I believe (maybe the previous gen)...sold it because the maintenance costs were killing him (clutch going was the straw the broke the camels back from memory). Sold it and bought a Mazadspeed turbo and hasn't had to do anything to it since he bought it.

Audi S4's are a sexy car. For similar kms and age it would cost more than double what I got the BR9 for...think I'll be sticking JDM until after we have extended the house, stopped having kids and my wife is working full time again!

I think there may be an EV in our future though, using the BR9 as a commuter is not the most cost effective thing to do!

120d is ok for the driver and one passenger but otherwise it's quite cramped.

an e90 320d or 335d would be more versatile.

anyway thanks for mentioning the 1 series because now quite intrigued by the 123d lol, it's no beast by any means but seems ok for an average car and more importantly seems like something nimble i could potentially still throw around corners while saving even more on petrol than a 335d. i do have some freakishly tall people in the family (i'm only 5'5 but average height of cousins/nephews who often go out together is 6'2+) , those tall people will just have to suffer for winning the genetic lottery over me :D

those early 1 -series were nice handling.

hydraulic power steering not the iffy electric assist.

at the time motor mag aus reckoned a 130i was nicer to drive than an e46 m3.

a 123d would make a nice daily.

:)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
