Wheel bearings!

So my wheels bearings are on the way out by the sounds of it. Whining/high pitched noise increases with speed.

How hard are these to change out on the front? Never done this before and not sure I'd even have the tools to be honest. I assume ordering from partsoq would be the cheapest? And I have to change the whole hub part?

easy to do if you buy the whole hub and bearing assembly, just did both my wagon front bearings. Its in my thread if you want to see photos of things apart. I got my bearings from SubTech in Penrose 
So I'd need to buy both hub and hub carriers?

Hmmm just jacked car up and checked left front wheel for any play and there was none vertical or horizontal..... Took wheel off and had a look but couldn't see anything out of place. It does sound like metal on metal so I can't think of what it could be does the noise from about 20khs and gets louder with speed.

Any ideas?

Whats the milage, one of mine went at 120,000 and so I just did both. Mine sounded pretty metallic and rumbly.. 
220 on body. It's really whining/ mettalic sounding. it's almost like it's the center diff bearings? Can't get it looked at till next week so it's a bit scary having to drive it around it's not super loud but is definitely noticeable

From my experience wheel bearings have to be pretty shagged to get noticeable movement when working the wheel by hand. Also often its the opposite side than it sounds like

Id suggest so, just not sure what else it would be.. its the easiest thing to change too. Getting stuck into diff bearings is no fun and its also less likely than a wheel bearing 
Cheers man, yeah my initial thoughts were wheel bearings both probably shagged. Didn't think it would be diff as it's from the front no noise at all on top of trans or in cabin really at all

Dumb question maybe but it's not RPM-linked is it? I got some horrible whiney grindy noises when the bearing in my alternator belt idler failed.
Pretty sure it's not rpm related but more so to speed. There is no noise when idling which I assume would be the case if it was altenator?

If the bearing is squeaking it's usually because it's seized completely and the outer shell is rotating in the hub.

No rumbling because the bearing is not actually moving at all. It will wreck the hub pretty quick when it gets

to that stage. You should be able to move the wheel though... if not by hand, then with a crow bar under the tire.

 

Or it could be the brake pads.

The wheel was very solid when I tried moving it both ways. Just the usual movement in the wheels no play that I could feel. But doesn't rule it out noise is 100% coming from upfront, I'm way more leaning towards being bearings again because it's only around the wheels I can hear the noise. I'm going to have it looked at and see what they say. Have hubs and bearings lined up if it is them

Undo the hub nuts and see how loose the bearings are then.

Nope doesn't change with braking. Undo the actual 32mm hub nut?

 

Yes... or just loosen it off... if the hub nut is on super tight it can prevent any movement in the bearing, even though the bearing is rooted.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
