G'day clubsub,

I'm a Surfer who's been looking for a 4x4 van which I can use to drive down the beach and sleep in etc

Recently seen some AWD early 2000's Subaru Legacy's with raised suspensions that look to meet my requirements and wold be better for a daily driver than a Van.

From what I understand you can raise a car 50mm using Spacer's without needing to cert it, something similar to the below:

https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/parts-other-makes/suspension/listing-2228292407.htm?rsqid=b36add00c5444593b2574bced3f6951b-003

Then there's the option of raising the suspension/ using Forrester suspension to really Jack the Legacy up which would require Certing something like the link below:

https://www.rallitek.com/lift-springs-lift-kits/5634-rallitek-14-rear-raised-overload-spring-kit-outback-2005-2009.html

I'm not very knowledgable about car mechanics so Just looking for some advice as to the cost and process involved in each option for an early 2000's Legacy (taking it to a mechanic).

Input from anyone that's done this kind of thing before or knows the process would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Chur,

Reds

I like this idea, will keep an eye on this thread as its something I've been thinking of doing in the next couple years once I escape Auckland.

You could also go for a Lancaster or Outback.. no work to be done just buy it and go surf.

Would they be sweet in stock condition to drive on the beach/ softer sand ? I like the idea of some added clearance to allow for some meatier tires .

Yea some additional clearance would be awesome. Throwing some larger meatier tires onto the Outback platform as is would suffice I think. Also when it comes to the beach its important to keep in mind that traditional alloy wheels are not ideal as they get sand stuck in the inside causing major imbalance and shuddering once you get up to speed. You have to clean them out al the time so getting some steelies that have a dish on them rather than concave makes things easier <-- hope that makes sense

This one looks slightly lifted though 🤔

Speaking from my experience with 4x4s here;

Anything regardless of the overall lift size by way of spacer requires a certification...

Anything with increased ground clearance up to 50mm by way of spring lift (ie. lift springs on factory or replacement struts) does not require a certification.

If you're going to do it, go for a spring lift - far far safer...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
