STI A-Line

TNHSTI

Recommended Posts

Hi team are thinking of getting an STI A-Line (I know its Auto dont judge me lol) just wondering if there are many members on here who have owned one and can comment on them? when using the paddles on downshift doe the car match the revs so you dont feel anything on downchange? or is it like all the classic autos?

Any known issues with the A-lines? I would be getting a 2010+ model

If you don’t get a reply I would suggest googling driver reviews and checking out the results from the popular overseas forums where there’s more discussion on them. I’d think they’d have an easier life than a manual sports car - different kind of people are associated with manual cars if you know what I mean (boy racers)

the good bits...

they are cheap compared to manuals,

they have a proper torque convertor automatic, not a dopey cvt like the current wrx,

it has nice big paddles, fixed to the steering column,

yes, it does blip the throttle on downshift but ...

the bad bits...

it's redundant as the downshifts are so slow,

the manual shift is backwards, i.e. push lever forward to shift up, pull back to go down a gear,

the car has less torque than a manual and feels laggier.

sounds crappier too,

finally, ones i've seen also miss out on the big brakes.

Cheers - it seems some come with the Brembos so I would be looking to get one of those - a few on TM currently

When you say slow how do you mean? is there a big delay in the gear change once you hit the paddle?

We used to have one before our current manual STI.

The shifts are slow, but you do get used to it, and can kind of 'predict' it, so you just shift a little earlier than you'd expect.

A hell of a lot of fun though, for an automatic, and went surprisingly well.

But when we got the manual, we could tell just how down-tuned the A-Line was.

Thanks for the feedback, well the last auto I had was a 3.0R legacy it did have the paddles but no blipping or anything and Ive never owned a GRB series STI so for Me I think an Auto GRB, (yes Im getting sick of manual for my daily) would be a great option

They look great, lots more room than my BL5 Legacy and I would say quicker than my 2.0L BL5 Turbo?

There are plenty around at dealers bro, you should test drive before shopping around heaps. Test drive was a massive eye opener for me, atleast. just knew I couldn’t have it and that’s saying a lot coz didn’t mind the auto skyline 370 as much initially whic is what I ended up with at the time which I’ll add is also s*** compared to manual version but 10k cheaper so compromised at the time. Drove manual for 15 years now through Auckland rubbish traffic with heavy clutches, light flywheels and still can’t figure out what people complain about, it’s such a subconscious part of driving but so rewarding at same time . For ppl sick of driving manual, their future is also probably self driving cars

That just a personal taste thing don’t mind my ramble. after test drive you might find you like it anyway, in which case good for you! Just saying it’s best starting point since highly opinionated topic

Hi team thought I'd post pics up of my new ride finally decided to go for an STI A-Line and I have to say I actually love it!

This one is a brilliant example 2010 STI in WRC blue with just 101,000kms on the clock has the gold sti brembos too! Has been immaculately looked after with a good service history from Japan

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
