2006 legacy gt hesitation

Recommended Posts

Hey i recently just purchased a 2006 legacy gt auto. When in 3rd on wot at about 5500rpm it will drop back 500rpm then go again to redline. Any ideas? Im about to drop it back to the car dealer to sort the issue just want them to have as much info so its fixed.

Weird. Torque converter slipping would be the only logical explanation I can think of. Pretty sure it should be locked at that point anyway.

Is it easily repeatable or does it just do it every now and again?

It does it every time and at the exact rpm point, it could maybe be the valve bodies and converter?

No idea really. It always happening at the exact rpm and load could very well be a valve body issue related to the tune. Could be exceeding some max figure which would drop the requested torque and trans line pressure at the same time maybe. Need more data from what everything else is doing to try narrow it down really.

Can't see a trans learning issue somehow causing this, though they may just reset it and see if that solves things.

At least it's easily repeatable. Nothing worse than taking it to them and it working fine.

That's a bit of a pain. Did you ask if they can sort out a local mechanic to look at it instead?

They are driving down with a loan car and we are swapping over. It would need to go to subaru to diagnose the gearbox i would have thought.
