Upgrading the headunit in your BE/BH (Macintosh amp'd system)

37 posts in this topic

ok so this was on of the first things i changed when i got my rev c that had the mac gear in it and in all honesty it was a matter of cutting the old amp out from under the seat and just hard wiring in the new head unit to the speakers with new cable, the way i saw it was my legacy is a 2001 so 10 years old and the wiring from factory is fine but as with anything could be a little better so i replaced all the speakers and run the oxygen free wire from speaker to unit so pretty much started it from scratch .. just throwing my 2 cents in there now the car runs full "after market" sound system and cranks hard!!!

BUMP just \'cause this seems like it should be a stickied thread on the Legacy thread! ;)

Had to search hard for this one on here. Going to attempt to do this if I cannot find an adaptor.

Rats as after pulling the dash apart then finding this to be the problem .....

Also without plugging in the Mcintosh amp and only the DIN plug, the rear two speakers do work correctly where as the front speakers and rear factory sub just "HUMMM". ANND if I turn the volume up too loud, it all cuts out and the headunit displays \'AUX failure\' or \'CD failure.\' Any ideas why it cuts out?

Did you manage to get this sorted mate? I have the exact same problem. I wasn't even aware the car had an Amp fitted and I wondered what the black cable was for.

Ummm nope they should be working. Unless you're using Safari browser on an Apple device... seen that from another person yesterday. Use Chrome and try again. The only images are in my first post, FYI

Help me please Hi iv fitted a dump valve to my vectra c 19 cdti 150 bhp. The 1 I bought was a twinport or receculation valve I don't no just bought and had a go of fitting it my self.  On looking at the car I thought I needed to block the 2nd port so have done bought a t and fitted it on the main intake Of The top Of The intercooler to the inlet on to Of The head.  Ran the bleed pipe and td it in to the on top Of The intake now it's just realeasing through the revs rather than when I lift of it's not because I blocked the other port is it thanks
