Hello

My names Bryce and I am an addict:

My addiction is my BC5.

I was supposed to just go and fill the car and then go to the dog park to check how busy it was. I ended up going for a 30km blast after filling up and never made it to the dog park. I had the wife call me to check if I was ok as I was gone for so long.

I thought while I was out I would just have a quick hoon, but that turned into a bit of a drive!

Also this car was supposed to be a weekend car but I love driving it so much its just about turned into my daily! My poor outback sits there looking at me to take it out, buts not as fun.

Awesome! I did a similar thing a few years ago when I lived in Auckland. I popped out to go get some things from the supermarket, ended up on the motorway heading north and ended up having lunch in Warkworth.

Discovered that one of my PCV hoses was missing ... WTF ...

DSC_0006.jpg

I went to a few stores to find a new hose, bought clamps as well, and when I started to install the new hose I discovered that my old hose was laying on the cover at the bottom of the engine ...

Only people that touched my car since this happened are the dodgy place where I got my air-conditioning re-gased ...

Name is Skylink auto electrical and they just got a really nice review from me on Google Maps !

Don't go there, you can't trust these guys

Well I bought the car on Monday and knew it had a small oil leak, previous owner thought it was coming from the rocker cover gasket. After degreasing the bottom of the engine and firing it up, discovered it's coming from a banjo fitting further on, passenger side of the car. Went out and bought some crush washers to replace the presumed bad ones only to discover that you can't get that bolt off without removing the timing cover, removing all the timing gears/belt and then removing the rear timing cover as well. Reassembled everything I pulled apart to get to that point and cracked a coke to have a think.

For the Legacy's atleast, and if i'm thinking of the same one that particular bolt has a considerable deeped head than the rest, you can grind/cut most of the head off which gives enough clearance to get past with the covers still attached. Then get one of the other banjo bolts to fit in there.

Is it an AVCS feed?

No idea, I've had an 05 wrx that I heavily modded in the past but it was new so didn't have the little maintenance issues. It might be an oil feed for the avcs or possibly cam seals even but I don't know how to check those. From under the car it looks like it's coming out if the banjo fitting, I have a timing belt appointment next week so I'm thinking of going full red neck and just throwing silicon on it and letting the mechanic handle both issues.

I swore at mine today. Realised on the drive home one of my dash lights blew so pulled it apart and it was the 1 bulb i didnt have at home *cue swearing* but easy fix. Got a 10 pack of dash lights from work so im all sussed now. Planning to do a service and a oil cooler-o ring replacement tomorrow. Bastard has been leaking for god knows how long and havent got around to it.

I've also noticed the oil return line on the back of the turbo is leaking a bit of oil. Is this common/has anyone ever seen that before? Its pretty bad and i need to fix it. Looks like it could just be a hose clamp missing but i could be wrong

Oil return hose leaking is very common, it stiffens with heat and age.

There is no proper clamp on it from the factory, just two slim spring clamps that barely exert any pressure.

Not that it needs pressure, that line is all gravity fed, though If I ever have my engine out or whatever, I'm gonna replace it with an AN fitting,  and make it easier to fit turbo after that because not F***ing around trying to make it fit lol

Parts from japanparts finally arrived, My boy likes car parts almost as much as me!

Got new Crystal eye LED lights for rear, STI push start button and Charge Speed led lights to replace the plain red reflectors on the lower bumper.

All installed and now just need to wait for some better weather to take some photos of the installed lights, looks a lot better so far.

I'm eyeballing the same things on aliexpress :)

$20 shipped for a pair, thinking whether I should get red or to to stay within the theme and get some smoked ones.

Smoked looks good. Alot cheaper than what i paid as you know!

I nearly bought some off Japan too! But then was looking for something on ali and these popped up.

What does the underside of yours look like? Do they just clip in place? And how did you run the wiring?

@sobanoodle been digging your smoked theme mate, keep with it :D

Cheers :) My only worry with the smoked ones is that they won't reflect any light at night ¬¬

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
