Yep Furze still owns it and D tech originally only made 265kw on 98.

SAS did a great job and got 275kw from it on 98 and 302kw on e85. The limiting factor obviously being a factory bottom end and the 1000cc injectors running out of flow thanks to ethanol.

The 275kw was after the upgraded valve springs and 22lb of boost yea? If the bottom was built you think it would've crossed 300kw?

My build has been complete and has been at the tuner for couple of weeks. The car will be on dyno on Monday. But I am using the same turbo which is in question (hrc35/2) here. Mine is a 2.1 stroker forged and doweled. I am planning to run 28lb of boost to get me over the 300kw range. As Drews car I have upgraded the valve springs too. Here's hoping for 300kw. If not I will change the turbo to the airwerks 7670 as it's a poor man's efr 7670. The only reason I went with holset is due to the rebuild factor and that it should spool up better compared to the airwerks as the holsets turbine housing design is pretty darn good.

It's actually on the same (if not a little lower) boost, but in general I think it could've got there before without the springs. Jason is just a very good tuner.

If it was built and had larger fuel injectors it by far would've gone above it. It was wanting to as far as the torque was concerned, and that was dialed back.

Who is doing your tuning?

That's good to hear. My limit will probably the injectors (912cc) and the fuel pump (dw65c). Fuel will be gull force 10 as it is better when going above 25psi.

Hitech motorsport is doing my tuning. However not on the stock ecu. I have gone the haltech way :). They generally don't do many walk ins as their clients are targa based. From what I have spoken to the owner, he is very switched on and lines up with all the research I have done as well.

Done an oil change on the BL5 Legacy and found the car had a full set of aftermarket headers lol

Sexy! I need me some headers like those sometime!

Also, Z436 - that's a pretty small oil filter! I've always run a slightly larger Z79AST on my 02 Legacy, vs the Z79X/Z495 that is listed.

Edit: checked the Ryco listings - Z436 is what is listed for these cars. I'd advise going the Z436ST - they have a better filter in them, and are a long life filter. Also have a grippy surface on them, so don't need a tool to loosen them!

I'll have another look. I can't remember the number on it now

Being an 07 Legacy, stock will be VF45.

Getting ready to spend a fair amount of money on the mighty S401!

- Set of MCA coilovers

- Whiteline all the suspension bushings, and other little things

- Znoelli DDS Rotors

- Good set of street pads (open to suggestions here... or I'll just ring RaceBrakes)

- Cert

Should be good once it's all done!

That's all I'm gonna do for the year I think. Depending on money, and if I decide to travel or not, I might upgrade all the diffs in the transmission/car too.

@Individualities which MCA’s are you going for?

They've recommended me Street Ultimates, and I'm kinda convinced. I'd probably spec all the extras on their lower range ones, and they come out at a similar price to Street Ultimates as is.

But I'm happy to be swayed into Essentials or something!

@Individualities Race brakes have dba rotors cheap as.

i got the dba pads but they are pretty weak and I won't get them again.

if you haven't already got a good price for whiteline, let me know the place I get them from might help you out too.

Good to know. I'm after a set of slotted rotors, for the better performance, and the more purposeful look behind the wheels.

I was gonna go through my usual mechanic in Whangarei, as I used to work there, and he generously still charges me trade price! Despite me leaving over 3 years ago.

Can always compare quotes between them and your guy!

@Individualities street ultimate should do you well. I'll be interested to see how much better they are than the street performance. Suppose it's all in the custom valving which should get things almost perfect for your needs provided you give them the right info from the beginning.

An extra $700 is quite a lot though. You're starting to get into the price territory of some other high end coilovers at that price.

The custom valving is what's drawn my attention, and the fact that basically you can make everything custom for them. I especially want the camber washers!

$700 is a lot. But for what I want, it's worth it. I'd call MCA a high end brand myself. Definitely a brand to consider if you want a good set of coilovers in NZ/Australia. None of that Tein crap lol. I get very tired very quickly of how some people HAVE TO HAVE everything JDM 'yo

Tein are very very good for the money in my experience. Not only would I not bag on them I would actively consider looking at them if I were you. Look up MotoIQ's review of the New Tein Flex Z's before writing them off. Just my 2c...

Don't get me wrong MCA look extremely good but its big $$$

Ugh. Can't catch a break with this bloody car.

It's all together, few small fuel leaks thanks to missalignment of fuel rail to injectors. No big deal.

However, it looks like I have a dead injector driver in the ecu but I can't confirm this until I've got a spare ecu to test this. Soooo anyone got a spare G4 storm or extreme?

True true. Sadly my experience with Tein suspension while working in a Automotive shop that specialised in Suspension & Brakes has left me kinda with a bad opinion of Tein.

They are probably not a bad coilover at all - just my personal experience with them on customers cars has not been mostly positive.

I'm prepared to spend the big money in all honesty. For a lot of reasons.

Probably the main reason is because a full set of original springs is BIG money (mine's sacked out in the back a fair bit, and this causes toe and camber problems when it needs an alignment). And a set of coilovers from MCA is not too much more, and I get new shocks (custom valved), adjustable height (I'd be running the car at basically stock height, with maybe lowering it for a track day if the opportunity arose), and adjustable dampening. Plus MCA's camber washer system is pretty dang neato - basically a permanently locked eccentric front strut bolt (for the camber).

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
