The auto dip headlights are not ideal in that if you use the auto headlights setting they turn on with the dark and off with the light as they are supposed to do - great.

If I use the auto dip setting old there it takes 25-30 seconds on low beam after a light has passed (sign, headlights, etc.) before they turn back onto high beam - which is totally unacceptable as I libve and travel in the open roads often at night.

Subaru have told me that they cannot change that and to just smokily use manual lights - which means I have to revert to turning them on at dark and remembering to turn them off in the daylight - which I think sucks as it is a selling feature of the car in the first instance.
Has a anyone else had this trouble or know a fix for it other than reverting to manual lights to get high beam when you need it?

Can hear the turbo spooling but sitting at say 90kmh and go to pull out and pass the turbo initially boosts but drops off a small amount before coming back on full boost does it at about 4000rpm

Won't do it from standstill when u boot it 

Car is stock apart from a perrin turbo inlet tube 

Any ideas it's not hugely noticeable but still annoying, kinda feels like the gap u get in the twin turbo legacys 

Looking at replacing the PCV Valve on my 02 SG Forester but just not sure if the part I've found on Partsouq is the correct one

From what I can see it is part number 11815AB450 

But is this the complete PCV Valve? pic below

Recently bought an 02 SG forester XT auto to do a bit off off roading 

First thing I notice is it's definitely low on power, the previous owner had been running it on 91 so thats not a great start 

Its completely stock and been well serviced, and i pulled the intercooler off last night to check hoses etc and everything looks good

Have put a tank of NPD100 octane in it and it seems to be a bit better but it still is down on power

What would be the next thing to look at? boost kind of jerks a bit and isnt real smooth

AFM maybe? ill try cleaning that with some cleaner and see how that goes 

but otherwise be good to have some suggestions 

He has a forester xt 2009 that has a blown motor and wants to know if he could swap the block over from a na forester the same year, and obviously swap pistons and everything else from the xt turbo engine 

Also what is the best turbo back exhaust to get installed? I currently have a catback exhaust installed that has a straight pipe, wondering if a turboback will be as loud and hopefully give the car more power.

Looking at selling my Legacy this year and moving on to an SH Fozzy, with the intention of doing an overland sort of build (mild lift, A/T tyres, roof tent etc.) to get out and about and do some exploring and a few trails.

I've recently moved to Auckland and due to having to deal with traffic now I'll be leaning towards getting an automatic XS, purely for the comfort factor. 

Basically what I want to know is, has anyone with experience taking an N/A Forester offroad noticed a difference in capability compared to an XT? Outright speed isn't as much of an issue as I'll be getting a bike as well for when I need to scratch that itch, more concerned about getting places. 

It'll be my first dive into the Forester world as well, is there anything in particular to look at when buying other than the standard Subie things?

After a few days, I started the car and now there's a whining which occurs not when the engine is idling (smooth as silk), but when I drive. Anyone had this issue after braving high waters? I'm thinking it's the timing / accessory belts that are the issue? 

Advice appreciated from someone whose done stupid things like this in water.

MY SH5 XT Handles like a boat. It's a given really. Stock suspension made for carting the family around but i'm not about that life.

Obviously my options are adjustable's (which i'm not wanting to fork out for) and lowering springs.. 

But was also wondering if it's possible to lower an SH forester with say.. WRX suspension from the same era? Or anything else that anyone has had experience with?

have removed the AVS & Turbo Timer (lady lost keys & fell out of love with it and got told by the council to dispose of or remove it from the Roadside, along came me!)

I have Spark & fuel and no fire

any ideas or tips? Door chime only comes on when I unplug ign etc

Has sat on the side of the road for 2 years unlocked & locals have had a go at it (Ign pulled out etc) << i believe this may be the main issue

all Lights go on, no stereo though, air con works, I connect the Diagnostic plugs (Black & Green) & get a constant flash of the CEL

I do have the Gravel Express parked nearby for robbing bits off

I am aware this is all hard to see from where you are, just trying the basics for now

next I'll drain tank & pop some fresh fuel in but I'd expect it at least to cough & fart with stale fuel right?

from What I understand it’s a front lip, Sti wheels. Looking at one in CHCH ad says it has 3 modes on the auto, normal, sport and eco. Are these standard on all cross sports?

What are common issues to keep an eye out for with the SG and SH chassis? Thinking along the lines of watery headlights, oil leaks, stuff that ALWAYS breaks. 

1. Where is the factory radio antenna located and what type is it?
2. Do most gen2 impreza parts bolt up for drive train and suspension? E.g. can I purchase and fit v7 sti shocks?
3. Would gen1 impreza rear 2 pots bolt up or will I need adaptors? I think diff is r160 so adaptors?

Have already taken it to one event which was great! were talking seriously amateur rally on private land gravel driveway

any I discovered

- Handles like a boat

- Tail doesnt kick out when leaving a corner on acceleration  (fronts spin and understeer occurs) (this is on gravel)

- Tail kicks out when braking even if only turning slightly (this is on gravel)

Car is stock, stock boost, stock wheels, manual turbo

Anyone know any easy cures? was thinking sway bars?

It has slotted rotors on the rear (no idea why)

Unrelated -

Shock or near has a little clunk on drivers side wheel during turning on long right hand corners (on tarmac normal driving) - local mech cant find it and apparently its common as after google searching it

Change sway bar ends but made no difference 

1. Who has used one in an SG Forester before?

2. What brand did you use?

3. Did you have to modify the internal panels to fit it? 

4. How much of a difference did you feel?

The rear lateral arms are the same as a WRX STI if I'm correct but the sway bar is Forester-specific.. So should I be looking for STI end links or Forester end links? 

Is Whiteline generally a pretty safe bet? If I'm not going to be adjusting them, should I just get the stock ones? 

Anyone know where I can find a decent catback system for it?

Owned several Impreza STI of various ages and they were relatively easier to source.

Can't seem to find anything on the market to suit an SG9 as a bolt on solution?
